Official 2011 Prediction Thread

Anyone without eels in the 8 is a major oversight IMO. Stephen Kearney will do wonders there, they have a nice team on paper and will thrive with a good coach

I have to disagree. It is not the coach that it is the problem, it is the players. Signing Webb and Maitua is a real big risk if you ask me. They are losing Kris Keating and Nathan Cayless and gaining Webb and Maitua, personally I know which two I would prefer.

The Eels won't win the comp without a proper halfback, Mortimer is not a proper halfback and he is useless anyway. Even if they do sign Orford, I don't see him doing wonders for them. They will just miss out on the 8 once again.

Kearney is a good coach, but Daniel Anderson is a great coach! Can't see Kearney turning them around dramatically.

The eels have lost a few of there stars so the eels will be around the same place on the ladder as what they were this year if not worse.

Eels wont make the 8.
Hayne is NOT consistant unlike other star players.
Maybe he's just overrated and people have too high expecations on him?
There is nothing in the Eels except Hindmarsh and Hayne.
Tahu is screwing up his reputation.

On the other hand, I think Panthers will drop out next year. Broncos will be way up there, their young guns will once again step up, maybe Inglis will do good there.

Tigers surely will make it. Highly doubt Bennett will go back to Broncos, so Boyd won't leave neither. So Dragons definately in there. Raiders have a massive chance, they're being boosted massively and obivously everyone are having high expecations on them after their great performances in the weeks prior to the finals.

Roosters and the Rabbitohs have the decent players, management, but can they do it?

Well it's October and let's make prediction ..... well never get them right in february so here goes ......

Minor Premiers/Premiers - NZL Warriors - They've got some exciting young players comming through after 2 great toyota cup seasons & there window for success in open.

Grand Finalist - Wests Tigers - They have a all-rounded team from fullback to interchange bench & wasn't that far from beating the Dragons in the preliminary final, but the added bonus of Tim Moltzen in the halfs with Marshall will see this club getting to the big dance in October.

3rd - South Sydney Rabbitohs - Will have a great season what will safe Lang's job (that's if the injury bug doesn't hit like in 2010)..... but just will fade out like a black & white tv set in the finals.

4th - Sydney Roosters - Won't make the GF in 2011, but will continue to build on 2010 but the lack of depth will hurt them during origin & if injuries hit.

5th - Newcastle Knights - Will start slow (again) but has a easy draw at the back end of the season what will help them make a impact in the back end & the finals ...... But a young team that has a premiership window what is close to being open after being build after the 2007 clean out!!! Henry/Mullen duo will take time this is why I'm saying we will have a slow start........

6th - St George Illawarra - Grand Final hangover, plus the lost of Smith & Costigan will hurt that will make this team a mid range contender......

7th - Melbourne Storm - Has a good team, But not great & should bounce back from there scandal season to be a top 8 team again, but still building there young talent ..... what should be a top 4 team in 2011

8th - Brisbane Broncos - Lockyer, Hannant & Inglis stays fit they should make the eight but this is the worst Broncos team ever!!!

9th - Gold Coast Titans - Has just too many question marks about them and no soild answers to say they will make the eight & press on to the premiership ...... Lose Prince & Campbell in the first half of the season they could win the spoon!!!

10th - Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs - Trent Hodkinson/Ben Roberts is unproven & just don't see them getting the job done in there first season as a halfs parntership.....

11th - North Queensland Cowboys - The NRL's under achieving club will continue, Neil Henry will be my pick for first coach to be in a centrelink line in 2011......

12th - Penrith Panthers - I'm going to make this short & sweet .... IMO 2010 was a fluke and no way the 2011 season will be as good!!!!

13th - Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles - There window has closed in a big way ..... This team has depth issues to a point where Des may have to build around Lyon, Foran, Balin & the Stewart brothers to make this team a true contender again, with some good young players ie; Will Hopoate!!!!

14th - Parramatta Eels - In house fights killed this club since 1989 and it will continue because the sydney media will build the Hayne plane & co into the water for a shocking crash!!!!

15th - Canberra Raiders - Terry Campese out for 13 weeks will make this team a spoon contender (oh oh Cronulla will help them stay off the bottom)

Wooden Spoon - Cronulla Sharks - Well, well was always told by my dear mother if you have nothing good to say don't say it at all ........... This club is death walking, one day the NRL will take them out the back and kill the joke of the NRL for good!!!!!

How does everybody fancy Cronulla for next season?

They have recruited pretty good and there pack will be stronger than ever with Smith going to them, I reackon anywhere below 13th and they should be a bit dissapointed.

The only trouble I see with the Sharks is lack of speed and points.
I'm not sold on Wade Graham yet, not really a player that you should watch out for in a game, same goes for Smith. They will also lack spark out wide, haven't really got any genuine game breakers in their squad.

Barrett will be a huge loss, he gave them that much needed direction in attack and held his own in defence. Barrett for mine was a better halfback than 5/8th, the Sharks probably would of had more success with a decent running 5/8th with Barrett calling the shots at halfback.

I'll tip them to finish 11th, the foward pack is one of or if not the best in the NRL but if they think they are going to win games with that halves combination they are dreaming.

I had them at 9th because i really like the look of their team. Barrett will be a massive loss IMO & if they aren't winning games early, then they've got no hope because Tim Smith & Wade Graham being so young will lose all confidence very easily.

How does everyone think Manly will fair this season?

I can't honestly see them making the eight, their halves options are too limited to even challenge it IMO. I will predict them to finish about 13th with the tigers to get the minor premiership and Parra to run last.
