Well ladies and gents surprise, surprise Australia and New Zealand will play off for the tri nations trophy yet again in 2010.
Considering the horrendously long season our guys are putting themselves through to continue to represent Australia, the least the administrators could do would be to offer them a decent competition.
At this point in time i will bet $100 that Australia will play New Zealand in next years final and the year after that... and the year after that.. That's not a competition that's simply putting already overworked NRL players through extra games when they should just play a one off game for the trophy to avoid burnout.
Please find below my suggestions for the restructuring of the competition in 2011 and please offer some of your own.
1. Australian Kangaroos: Top 25 Australian Players
2. Australia A Emus: Next Top 25 Australian Players
3. Pacific Island FC: Merger of Tonga, Fiji, Samoa & Papa New Guinea
4. New Zealand Kiwis: Top 25 Kiwis
5. European Lions: Merger of European Sides, England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, France etc.
1. Australian Kangaroos
2. Australian A Emus
3. New Zealand Kiwis
4. Pacific Island FC
5. European Lions
In increasing the competition with an extra two sides it then becomes a vastly more competitive competition. Meaning the national title will for the first time in its history have some value to it.
