Off contract players

God that feels like what might happen hey. Storm let Munster go to the Dolphins to clear cap space so they can beef up the forward pack (they have to let one of those four spine guys go I reckon and the other three don’t have any off field issues), sign Harris-Tavita on the cheap, and then within 12 weeks people are calling him one of the best halves in the comp.
 
I’ve had a look anyway and pulled out the names I find interesting. Whether we retain KP or not, it’s still likely the halves we’ll be looking at, and the off contract fullback list is so dire we’d be better off giving Tex Hoy a top 30 deal if Kalyn does leave.

HALFBACK/FIVE-EIGHTH

Chanel Harris-Tavita, Jock Madden, keeping Anthony Milford.

Rumoured interest in Will Pryce of Huddersfield, but there’s a transfer fee involved.

EDGE FORWARDS

Angus Crichton, Briton Nikora, Euan Aitken

Rumoured interest in Kai Pearce-Paul of Wigan. Again, there’d be a transfer fee.

MIDDLE/EDGE

Tom Gilbert, Ryan Matterson (yes I know, ****head, but a good player)

MIDDLES

Thomas Mikaele

For the forwards I’ve kind of only looked for skill and/or impact. There’s a few other guys off contract who are good metre eaters but but between Klemmer, the Safs and Frizell, I really don’t think that’s the issue we have in the pack.

More like we'd sign Munster and he gets a season ending injury in round 1 2023 and is never the same player again!
 
I sort of like our second rowers but hope we go in a new direction. Frizz, Barnett, Fitzy and Jones all off contract 2023. May be time to chase some younger guys... Nanai etc.
 
Barnett very likely gone so we need another okayish middle/edge. That’s why I threw Tom Gilbert’s name up there.

Will be shocked if the Cowboys don’t move mountains to extend Nanai again.

I don't know how many mountains you can move when your spending 1 mil on Lolo and close to that on leilua. Can't imagine luki would have come cheap. I know nrl players cost money but that's a lot in 11, 12, 13.

I wouldn't say no the Moses on face value, he'd bring a lot to the team, but I don't think we are in a rush to deal with Uncle Issac any time soon.
