Oct 12: All Golds v NZ Maori @ Yarrow Stadium, New Plymouth

because I requested a day off and they didn't give it to me, so I took a days annual leave and the 2IC signed it so then they had to!

Beez; word on the street is that I may be getting moved into your department next week. But I don't know that for sure. But you better be nice to me haha.

Word on the street is that I'm leaving. Maybe you're taking my place - you've got big boots to fill!

It's so weird that you work at the same place, what are the chances?

Lucky you finihing beez!

All Golds 44 (Manu Vatuvei 2, Lance Hohaia 2, Setaimata Sa, Krisnan Inu, Sam Perrett, Ruben Wiki tries; Issac Luke 3 conversions; Krisnan Inu 2 conversions; Logan Swann conversion).
New Zealand Maori 10 (Shaun Kenny-Dowall, Jason Nightingale tries; Kevin Locke conversion).
Halftime: 18-6 All Golds.

The All Golds (basically the Kiwis) were a bit rusty but will be a lot better for the run. I was at the game which was the first time I'd been to Taranaki (and I had great seats right behind the bench) so I wasn't paying full attention to the game but I'll watch a replay tonight.

Hohaia was brilliant at fullback - scored an 80 metre try. Inu and Marshall both showed glimpses of class. Luke was outstanding at hooker. Sa and Fa'alogo seemed very quiet. Ropati ran the water (didn't play).

Wiki scored an 80 metre try after the final siren after a Maori try was disallowed by the video (he made the correct call), from the tap they passed it to Wiki and Swann converted from the corner.

After the match members of the crowd did a haka for Issac Luke (who comes from Taranaki) and then members of both teams performed a haka for Wiki, Swann and maybe Koopu. Great day out!

And positive signs for the Kiwis WC campaign.

Nightingale just took a dive in pursuit and let Wiki score that final try haha.

Yeah, they did look rusty. And given the way the Kiwis always start slow in series and improve as they build up combinations, etc, I think this game and the Tonga test have been brilliant ideas. Hopefully we will be totally primed to give Aus a run for their money in our first match at the world cup.

I don't really understand this all tbh.

It was a warm-up for both NZ and NZ Maori. I guess they used the name "All Golds" so they didn't have to classify it as representing the NZ Kiwis national team as not all the players were available and they could also throw in invited players like Ruben Wiki, Stacey Jones and Logan Swann.

I think it turned out to be a good warm-up for both teams. Not too serious but a good enough hit out, next week v Tonga should give us a better indication. NZ really need time together and they'll be a lot better because of these two games.

Speaking of Logan Swann, his sideline conversion after fulltime was pretty impressive!

What is not to understand Frizzed, it was a warm up game for the world cup! The All Golds team was a chance for some of the Kiwis to get a run ahead of next weeks test vs Tonga, and the Maori are playing the Australian Indigenous side before the Aus NZ test, so they needed to warm up for that.

Incidentally, I don't think NZ Maori will give the Australian side much of a run in that match.

From where I was sitting I thought it missed and the linesman were just getting in on the occasion but I've just watched the replay and yeah, he nailed it!

Really? I think with a game behind them and the pride of representing NZ Maori this could be a very good contest.
