It's been a big problem since the NYC started, huge numbers of points being scored and then players being promoted to first grade and struggling big time. Something needs to be done to improve defences across the board in the NYC
I tell you... whilst Neenan Simpson is great in attack and all. His decisions as a fullback is sometimes questionable. Lets Souths just put the ball down after a grubber.
Phil Gould got it spot on about the 20's competition on the Sunday Roast today. There are all these talented kids with plenty of ball skill but no idea how to defend running around. The NRL sees the NYC as a replacement for the old Reserve Grade competition but it does nothing to prepare young guys for first grade.
They need to get the NSW Cup back up to standard to be a genuine reserve grade comp, featuring a combination of young kids and fringe first graders and it will lift the quality of the comps across the board.
