NSW Cup 2025

Greacen has been pretty impressive at prop, Pre season training really showing.

Awesome effort in this second half so far. against the defending premiers. Bring it home lads

22 - 23
Arthur tried to kick a 40/20 and it went out on the full, leaving Newtown in field position to kick a field goal.

Who looks ready to step up next week?
McEwen and McCarthy
Paul Bryan had his best game since Flegg grandfinal years ago, and all his lookalikes - Woodford and Jack Welsh were surprisingly good.
ESL and McEwen both had career best games IMO.
Pryce was very constrained - just steered them all around and did nothing silly

I've never heard of Jack Welsh.
Commentator said he is an 18 year old from the country. He was nearly as good as Hopwood today.

Thought Greacen was very impressive as well and played about 60min. I can't tell who Bryan was when he was on haha. I'd have to re-watch to pick him out. McCarthy is looking very strong and fast, he'd be my immediate bac up and Aoake isn't far behind him. Team is performing much MUCH better than previous years and I wonder if it's cause half of them are on train and trials for the whole year and can train full time which has been a great move by the club.

McEwen had a roving commission.
He sprang up both sides of the field and was offloading after taking the ball to the line. I think he was right second row, but he was being a ball playing lock when he felt like it.

Fletcher Hunt has probably pushed Votano back to Flegg.
Maybe it's just the hair making him standout, but I think his stats will be heaps better than Votano's from last week. He seemed to be in everything.

So IF we were to bring a prop on the bench, what one would have won it? I don’t have BarTv and what ever it’s called

They left Jones and Cant out because they are the ones they will need next week.
I think the only 2 middles we could use because of the deals they are on are Bryan and Hopwood. Hopwood needs to grow into his big frame for another year. Bryan could be a Mat Croker style worker if we are really desperate - but not for long minutes yet.

Greacen in my opinon today, been very good in trials as well. He'd be solid off the bench for 15-20mins. No game breaker but still strong
Yeah, if you could pick anyone, Greacen would be the best at the moment.

Hopwood has a little too much Chris Houston in him for my liking. Has little to no penetration at the line and seems to wrap and wrestle well but isn't too interested in wacking people.

Yes he's super young but he's also super large and well developed for his age and doesn't exhibit the physicality you'd hope. He looks like he needs at least a couple years to develop that part of his game.
