NRLW Recruitment & Retention Thread

Chris James said they had some Irons in the fire and hoped to announced a few signing's in the coming weeks, so maybe looking to announce a few signings back to back.

It's all speculation but I see CJ has been in Newcastle for some time now and doing big training sessions with most of the Knights girls... I'm just saying, maybe she'd rather be home close to family with new born and some of her best mates.......... just..... sayin.
Yeah get CJ back and bring Chester home as well. Sign Berry who’s off contract and we’re back in business.

Really don’t understand signing Bo for 3 years given her injury history and age. Should’ve only ever been a 2 year stop-gap signing till we found a replacement for Upton.

I didn't see the game today, but Fane Finau had good stats - topped the post contact metres by miles with 78 and second for run metres with 177.
Big win by Tonga over PNG.

I watched it. Fane didn’t get any good ball in attack unfortunately because they mostly played to the left but she took a lot of carries. She was a handful on every run too, poor Orchids had trouble putting her down. Got away a couple of good offloads too. Crazy just how strong she is

My feeling is she is a bit shy and doesn't call for the ball as much as she could. She should get better as she gets older. Born in Tonga so maybe English as a second language is a factor.

Telegraph did an analysis of all the club's rosters and potential moves. Has Simpson, White, Giampino & Staines all in the "in-limbo" category.

Also says there's a rumour the Knights are interested in getting Kirra Dibb back.
Updated now post-Dibb:

"The Knights offered Jesse Southwell a stack of money, which gives them incredible flexibility in the salary cap. Now that they’ve signed Kirra Dibb on a three-year deal, they are in a great position to bring home some other big names."

That "home" seems oddly specific considering they aren't actually linking anyone.

This better mean CJ

I can't think currently of other players who are local that are available.

Good to hear

If losing Jesse means we can upgrade some middles than it may work out for the best.

Other big names also suggests more than one. CJ is the obvious choice but Millie if off contract, and is still living here so maybe she might be interested given she has a baby now. Bree Chester is a local too but probably not a big name as such.

Unfortunately doesn’t look like it’s CJ. Watch Her Footy Insta page has a post about the article and CJ’s partner commented that it’s definitely not her :(

Weird. We already have a lot of players in the system who probably aren’t good enough for the NRLW who *aren’t* kind of old. Do not get this at all. They make Bo look like Teagan Berry.

Seriously, why?

We’re replacing Gallagher with these two. We need props but haven’t resigned Giampino? wtf are they doing?

I noticed that Evah McEwen posted that she got engaged to Finau Latu who rejected us to sign with the bulldogs. They better not release Evah to the bulldogs, that will be the end of long line of recruitment failures in last year or so

Article about Newcastle retaining the State touch title.
Says they lost star player Lucy Spain for the final because of a shoulder injury.
Also says Lucy Spain is part of the Australian touch squad.
In the HVN cup in 2025 we saw Lucy Spain show brilliant try assist skills to draw the defence and put Tess Staines through a gap to score time after time. At least we know where she got that skill from now.
