NRLW Recruitment & Retention Thread

It's a positive sign that Newcastle sides won all 3 titles on offer in the Koori Knockout. Not long ago the Redfern group dominated junior girls comps and we didn't get a look in.
We not only won under 15s, under 17s and open age, we won by combined scores of 52 - 4 - only giving up 1 try in under 15s.
There were heaps of players across the grades in the Knights system and going to Hunter Sports High
We beat Redfern All Blacks in under 15s - 5 years ago they flogged us every time we played them.

Good signs for juniors next year for the women, LF Cup and TG need better years, a lot of them were first time players for the club, finished High school now (17's) so more concentration on careers

Keilee Joesph signing with Parramatta is a good get for them. A middle combo of Albert, Joseph and Cherington is pretty strong.

I hope we at least had a swing at her, she’s a great player. If not I hope they’ve got a middle signing up their sleeve, particularly one that goes by the initials CJ

I’m all for the lower teams getting stronger but not at our expense, I think we’ve lost enough. Unfortunately mostly just through their own incompetence

It’s almost impressive how quickly they’ve managed to tear blow up a back to back premiership winning team.

At least the Bronx are losing Joseph, Mele and Broughton. Next year the Chooks get Aiken and Millie back and lose nobody. Great stuff

The comp is rigged for the Broncos and Roosters and Sharks and Dragons, and now the Raiders and maybe Eels as well. That's the reason all our players left. How are we possibly supposed to compete with the big heavyweights?

On top of being a consistently very good player since the day she arrived, Gallagher was an adopted local who embraced the town more than anyone. Can't imagine it's money-driven considering we've now lost 4 big-money players in the last 12 months and signed none.

They are going to try to replace everyone via internal development. Billy secretly took over as women’s recruitment manager and didn’t tell us.

How exactly is the comp
rigged for the Dragons, Eels, and Raiders? They’ve done a pretty poor job if it’s actually rigged for them.

The Salary Cap money is provided in the football grant. Plus Wests / Knights aren’t exactly poor, they have enough money to put into the women’s game. They’ve shown they’re willing to spend on it. If they can give KP’s parents some BS jobs, they can find a few for the girls. It’s not like the girls are on massive coin anyway.

The fact they keep losing players is mostly down to their own incompetence, poor communication and relationship management seemingly

Jefferies gets to show if he can develop players.
It sounds like we will have a lot of money to spend and no big names to spend it on, so Jefferies should be going to all the Pacific tests to see if any breakout talents emerge - or try to buy half the Canadian Rugby Union side who did so well in the Union WC.

More good news, Gallagher off to the Raiders
Will be interesting to see if she .maybe got a good deal to play soccer and league again, with Canberra having a decent football team in woman’s w-League and then another payday to play league with them and they probably threw more money at her
It was interesting that she didn’t make either Aus teams so could be as she doing the football season into league season again
