NRL Round 6 - Tigers Vs Knights - 4:05pm Sunday, 12th April - Campbelltown Sports Stadium

Trey, like a lot of them, is young, especially for a forward and will get better. We won the spoon last season, even today there were things to like, just wasn't our day. WDC got a bath... oh well, it's how he responds that matters.
I’m not concerned about Mooney, he has a huge upside and will improve. I was thinking during the game frizell could start and Mooney off the bench. But it’s either, either Frizell impact has be superb off bench and Mooney is doing his job in his first year of playing FG regularly starting.

Hopwood and Hola have been great in Cup and will be good options to replace Frizz if he’s out for a couple weeks with his Rib injury.

Am I the only one concerned about Hunt under the High ball - Unless I am seeing things is dropping 3-4 per game, I get his an effort player but seems to have plenty of errors in him.

That's been a criticism of him before, hasn't it, or am I misremembering - not a great trainer.
Unfortunately for WDC he is only a winger. Defensively in lower grades he’s never been strong at centre with defence. His attack is great and should stay on wing in future. Still back him to do well and hope players get around him.

Apprently some terrible comments on socials last night which is sickening

Yeah he drops a few, was plenty of tough bombs in the wind with tigers competing. Generally competes well throughout the game, and he is our third choice fullback, so to be expected somewhat.

I understand your concern. But if you put into context the pressure he is under when he misses those high bombs. Even the top full backs in the game can miss catching that high bomb under pressure.

If a team is on the back foot and the attacking team is putting in attacking bombs that’s a contest. So you can’t put all that on Hunt. If we are not on that back foot and are the team on the front foot then we are the ones putting pressure on their fullback.

Perfect example Jarime Bula was out leaped buy Hunt and he scored a try. So thats one of Hunts attacking upside.

That’s the game now, high bombs, multiple players competing for the ball.

I'd say catching bombs is a huge strength of his. Of course anyone will struggle if the side is going backwards and under huge pressure.

Just a thought on this game. Comments about the wind and pundits were worried. I wonder if we won the toss, and ran with the wind in the first half, a different result? We basically played the whole half down our end. And we were too gassed to mount a decent comeback when we had the wind in the second half. Just saying it could have been an outlier, as to why the tigers comprehensively beat us, rather than being a close game. Best out also proved a massive loss.

Sorry man but top fullbacks don't miss high bombs 3-4 times a match and are always under pressure - watch Edwards get smashed week in week out, by the time your picked for firstgrade catching them should be easy.

Any advantage like that, you definitely take it atm! We turned around our bad start vs the Raiders, but I think it's an equal bet then you just get overwhelmed like yesterday. Need to work on our starts, I think.

Sat down this morning and watched the game, was a tough match and tough to watch, left centre will be a selection headache until Best returns.
Tigers were strong and had the game in early first half but our boys battled on, starting pack along with Frizell were good still not sure on Saulo. Marzhew badly missed Best and Hunt tried very hard.
Prior to season start and with no injury problems we would all likely have been happy with 4 Wins out of 6.
Brown hopefully back this week and hopefully Frizell is ok.

On that point, it was pretty swirly where I sat. And a late kick in the first half landed behind where it was kicked it looked like.

High kicks for attack into that can be great, but random. But our long kicks could have been lower so they didn't hold up as much. Brown could have been much better at this as some veteran halves are, but we will never know.

Yes we could have gone alot better with that wind at our backs in the first half, but we arent the first team to fail with that kind of assault and wind coming at us.

Exactly, it sucks to lose but that’s to be expected, we aren’t the finished piece but we are going well, like I said before the tigers game, losses will come and some even back to back, but in the long run it won’t change much, we are on the right track, seems like we got the right coach albeit from a small sample size, young talent with huge potential like Mooney, McEwen, Smith, Sharpe etc, we will get there.

Don’t forget 99.99% of self proclaimed experts had us finishing last, well I don’t believe we will ever be close to that this year.

Still can't believe how rubbish we played yesterday......if Best was in and we had bit more ball it's a much closer contest or we win

I must say It’s great to hear commentators saying how we’ll definitely score over 20 points, even with so many attacking weapons injured, compared to what we’ve seen from us the last few years … when we couldn’t attack our way out of a wet paper bag.

Thats the NRL, any team slightly off can be beaten by any team.

Thing is, I didn't think we played that poorly to be honest. Yeah we were not on fire, but we were the victim of a bunch of things adding up against us. Left centre weak and let in plenty, wind against us in the 1st, just a whole bunch of every 50/50 practically went our way, hell the ball was bouncing against us.

By the time half time came the game was virtually gone. Tigers pulled off some freakish passes and plays that worked out for them either scoring or getting a 6 again after fumbleball and passing it all over the shop.

It was just a game where we had everything working against us. Ended the half possession 70/30 against which is near unheard of levels of possesion.

But, when we did get some time with the ball we still looked like we could score, bombed some tries, scored some to still put on 22 points.

With 50 percent possession, and getting some of the luck, we would have been well in it or won it.

Best would’ve been nice to have but he’s wasn’t going to have that much effect on the stats below.

These numbers are helped by the possession we managed to get in the last 20 or so when the game was already long over.

The games was lost in the middle in the first 15 minutes and helped by errors and poor discipline. I don’t see what Best being there does to fix that.

Best on that edge definitely prevents a couple of tries. In an alternate universe we win the toss have the wind behind and Best in the side who knows.

And that’s why I’m not overly concerned with this loss. Excuses or not we were missing 3 top players, Sharpe not 100%, wind, and home ground disadvantage.
