NRL Round 6 - Knights V Tigers - McDonald Jones Stadium - 4:05pm Sunday 13th April

That 15m set was the very last set of the 20 minute period. Thats a stretch using that 1 set to describe the entire first 20 minutes.

Again, what game plan did you want to see from them first 20 other than arm wrestle which we were competing in. Other than the halves should do some magic tricks and poof we are on their 30?

First 20, we had energy, competed well, generated 2 scoring chances and 2 line droputs, held them out from sustained sets on our line. I mean thats a win for mine against 1st place.
I said they did it in the first 20 not all of it that’s you stretching that truth. But if you’re happy with how we played fill your boots I’m happy for you.

I'm certainly happy how they played that first 20 minutes, with the exception of the handling errors. Which is my point that started all this.

Hold the ball, that is the game plan they need. Other than that, I hope the attack fires.

@Beatell are you suggesting it’s unusual for players to be gassed by the 15-20 minute mark if they’ve spent most of that time defending?

Why do you think it’s common for props to be subbed off from about the 20 minute mark then?

Kurri’s recap was very good & reinforces what I think a lot of us saw without that breakdown - it’s really hard to say if the game plan is working or not when the team makes basic unforced errors half the time they have the ball, and the other team compounds those errors by winning repeat sets.

No that’s not what I was suggesting as Krriboy said the first 15 was even back and forth after that we consistently played 5 out and got smashed. Yep the frfs do get subbed anywhere from 20- free halftime pending the player and work load. I said we need to not drop balls but we also need to be more dynamic with the ball to avoid 5 up smashed and fight fire with fire in defence like the dogs did. Good teams find a way to do this. The Storm wouldn’t have wilted against that. Or do you think they would have?

Yeah if they kept dropping the ball that much in their own half under no pressure, and they lost a starting prop and winger inside the first minute, I would suggest the Storm do go on to lose.

The record for teams losing an outside back to injury within 20 minutes for the past decade or so is abysmal, they almost always lose and lose badly. Weirdly it’s worse than the record for losing a spine player (likely because teams tend to carry a 14 who can cover a spine spot, but never outside back cover). Against a different side we may have been the rare team to go against that record, but the Dogs played really well.

.

Haven’t even seen anyone say AOB should be sacked …
The Knights official page on Facebook is atrocious for it at the moment. I called out people for being full blown ret@rds because he didn’t plan the injuries so sacking him won’t change a thing.

What's the rule these days to activate the 18th man? I thought 3 down to injury would cover it?
I think it’s only for before the game. Like warming up injuries or a last minute change or someone ate a bad curry pre game

Well they were beaten by the Dragons a couple of weeks ago...

Not to be a pain but, you said they weren't gassed in the first 20 and still played 5 out got smashed. Below is your quote.

They werent gassed in the first 20 and still played like this. There is always alternatives.

That is just plain incorrect as I showed. In that first 20 minutes, they were in the arm wrestle and held their own very well against the dogs.

The game was practically over after we lost J Saf and Schiller at the 1 minute mark. Then Cogger dislocation at about 20 minutes but played on hampered things as well. In the end fatigue took over, that combined with our handling errors was all she wrote.

All the team needs to focus on this week is handling. Fix that up, and we are back in the arm wrestle for longer, find ourselves in better field position which allows us the chance to start playing a bit more dynamic footy, and gives us more attacking chances that they need to start icing. It should mean we don't need to defend as much giving us more energy to play that dynamic footy.

So far this season the biggest things killing us are errors, and not icing opportunities. We have had plenty of scoring chances but the last pass is not sticking.

So. Attack wise. Last two weeks have fallen short

Titans we were impatient and final ball after making opportunities didn’t stick.

Dogs. More impatients, ball hitting deck, players in wrong spot, playing off back foot.

Are we think KP just having a couple bad games as he can do. Or game plan was to have him less involved?

Next two weeks for me are huge chances to get two wins even with injuries and we need to be all in on KP

I watch KP closely in the early part of the season and it takes maybe half a dozen games for him to click into gear, then “bang” it’s on.
I am hopeful that the next game or so gets to that “bang”.

It’s my understanding that you can only activate the 18th man if you have 2 players ruled out due to concussion or if a player is concussed due to fowl play and the defender is sent to the bin or sent off for the tackle

If you are referring to JSaf, that one is just really bad luck. If he did it during warm up, you can use your 18th man. He did it running onto the field to start the game, so he is a starting player and you have to use an interchange to get him off.

I’m just not sure if there is a cutoff time before the game as they have to submit the official team before kickoff.

Fowl play?!? Like being hit with a chicken? How rare would that be?

Have to say I’m a bit surprised the bookies have us favourites in this one. Tigers have more or less a full strength team.

Teyrel May has been a massive signing for them. Signing of the year so far. I wonder what they paid for him? It was all pretty quite and quick him going to the Tigers.

The Storm really did them a massive favour taking Stefano from them. May certainly wouldn’t have cost them any more and he’s been twice the player for them that Stefano ever was

We might be a chance of winning after all.

The two people who have giving us the kiss of death in the last two games in Eddy from Hello Sport and that Dog from the Cast Patrol Instagram have both tipped Tigers.

I’m worried about Liu. Not for his attack, but I think he’s the glue that holds their defence together. He’s constantly barking orders at the team and getting players into position and holding them accountable. Their defence fell away last week without him.

It could be a coincidence

I have a theory that it’s Lui and his talk that Penrith are missing in defence, that’s why the Panthers defence has been ordinary this year
