After 5 rounds we sit in ninth place with 2 wins and 2 losses with a points differential of minus 24.

We will be missing JSaf, Hetherington, Lucas and Schiller this weekend, possibly Gamble as well and hopefully no players will be suspended. However, KKP will return from injury.

Thankfully this is a Sunday afternoon home game against the Tigers who have also been struggling.

We have a huge amount of work to do this week at training on our attack. At least our defence is good and Cant and McEwen are beginning to realise their potential.

This game gives us the opportunity to get our season back on track. Will we just make up the numbers in the competition this year and maybe just make the 8 and lose in the first week of finals or can we start to build towards being a top 4 team?

There is no doubt this year we will just make up the numbers, probably go out the first or second week depending on where we land in the 8.

I don't want the team to go in to their shells and be too scared to attack, returning to the bland constant turning the ball back to the middle again and again.

Really just hold the ball, play the game like a professional team and we win.

Hand heaps of good ball to them, we lose.
 
No doubt tigers will be targeting marzhew under the highball.....

The have a pretty big pack, defensively we need to be strong in the middle or they will roll us.

We need to limit how many times they’re kicking within our 30 to prevent the issue

The trainer was having a go at it on the ground a couple of times in the first half when scrums were packing, Cogger was watching the play and as soon as the ball was in play was leaving the trainer and getting straight back into it. That was pretty brave in itself.

He's literally had 2 games of reserve grade, one at centre, one at wing.
He looked good on the left wing outside McCarthy and Manulelea, who were carving up, but he needs 10 more games like that before O'Brien will even consider him.
 
tbf it is Fox NRL whose interest in Newcastle this season largely ended with the singing of Dylan Brown, although that's more coverage than we usually get.
