NRL Round 5 - Knights Vs Raiders - 4:05pm Sunday, 5th April - McDonald Jones Stadium

Another reason this makes sense is the fact that Brown will likely be back 2-3 weeks before Ponga and he will surely come in to partner Smith in the halves. Get Sharpe at FB sooner if it’s around the corner (and should be during Origin too if KP stays well).

I’m a big fan of Hunt and would have him take WDC spot on the extended bench.

EDIT: posted this before reading another 2x pages of everyone shuffling our spine…..lols. Each to their own. I think Sharpe is natural FB and best there and having Brown and Smith at 6 &7 with Crossy and Graham sharing 9 would be frickin deadly!
If Ponga walks out on us at the end of 2027, our spine would instantly become this, and I am very, very confident it'd be a very good spine & Fletcher Sharpe would crack the Blues within two seasons there. That's how natural of a fullback I think he is. He's like if Ryan Papenhyuzen and Dylan Edwards merged together and you got the best attributes of both. You wouldn't be shocked to see him have a season where he leads the league in run metres and tackle breaks while scoring 20 tries.

I'm becoming more persuadable on Sharpe getting smooshed into the halves, but specifically to accommodate Kalyn needing to play fullback. Don't really get why you wouldn't just play Sharpe at 1 with Kalyn out. Especially given how adept Holbrook seems to be at quickly tweaking the attack when he needs to make some changes.

No use moaning about it though we'll probably play well and give ourselves a great chance of winning irrespective of my misgivings about the lineup because our coach rules and the players are bought in. That's what matters at the end of the day.

Sharpe needs the reps at five eight to learn the position. Ponga is here for another 2 years minimum basically. And I think there’s a great chance he re-signs, especially given that we look to be a much improved team.

On a side note, Mooney back will be good for Sharpe. He’s our main offloader, Sharpe sniffing around could cause problems.

I’m keen to see how Trey goes this weekend ( hopefully to prove a point) plus also coming out the gates strong especially following pasamis opening stint last week impressive.he will be fresh fit and hopefully firing.

Big Papa a big in for them. Bookies have them reasonable favourites atm. Still most media guys tipping them.

I don’t doubt this will be a tough game. But I don’t think there new halves combination is working that well. Ethan Stange has not been playing on his usual side. Sandons has shown moments of good but he’s not as good as Fogarty.

I had them I think 7th or 8th in my ladder prediction. Sure there forwards and speed in there backs will win them games. But missing Fogarty was the main reason I had them not as high this year. They also had a great run with no injuries last year.

Another tough test for us, but I’m more confident this game than the dogs. That dogs game has further instilled confidence that 26 Knights under Hollbrook are a far better side.

Seen a lot of youtubers picking Newcastle and are surprised Canberra are bookie favourites.

At the end of the day the odds just reflect what the punters are putting their money on. A lot of people will just be thinking Canberra won the minor premiership last year and are due a win, we were the wooden spooners and are still missing our two most highly paid players. Don't think it's any more deep than that.

I'd say we're good value though!

The Raiders are also fully fit. I hope the Knights keep punching above their weight in what's been a great start to the season despite adversity, but the odds seem about right to me.

We broke the streak of losses without KP last week; hopefully, we can break the streak of home losses this week.

Having Mooney back is massive. I love his offload and the team looking to play off that spreading in wide instantly.

I’m a bit worried about Sandon’s defence. It’s pretty easy to see he jumping out of the line. Matty and Cronk pointing it out. The second rowers will be targeting him. Hudson young on his side?

Hudson Young always has a crazy about him but ithe chip on the shoulder comes out playing against Knights I recon. He will be out for heads especially coming off some losses

Hudson Young's a bit of an early ball merchant anyway, not that good of a hole runner. I think we're lucky that big chungus Noah Martin who does seem to love to sprint into a hole is on the Lucas/Sharpe/Best side.
