NRL Round 3 - Knights Vs Warriors - 3:00pm Saturday, 21st March - McDonald Jones Stadium

Lefty

Danny 'Bedsy' Buderus
After a rousing win over the Sea Eagles, the Knights have 6 days to prepare to face the undefeated Warriors at home.

With Ponga and Brown injured, Holbrook will be sweating on the fitness of Sharpe and then he will decide on the make up of the halves and who to play at fullback.

It will be an opportunity for us to beat the Wahs without Ponga and Brown and prove the bookies wrong. Let’s go boys!

Warriors forwards are several steps up from the Cowboys and Sea Eagles. Big challenge.

Need to maintain the confidence level even without Ponga and Brown which is easier said than done. If they can do that, and Smith plays like he did today, and Sharpe comes back looking like Sharpe I do think we’re a chance.

Not excited for this game due to the hand we have been dealt with these injuries.....

Hopefully we can go with them but I'm struggling to see us score enough points. Warriors have been piling on points for fun.

They play a very high % game though and have taken advantage of mistakes rather than carved up from minute 1. So we can stay in it if we play smart.

They do also just bash the ever loving **** out of the other team though. That’s the real challenge for mine.

Agree, if we can minimise our errors and not give them leg ups we can match them.

I just hope we don't get frustrated if the points don't come as easily.

Watching the replay and I’m not too worried about the severity of Ponga’s injury. Doubt he’s right for the Wahs game but it wouldn’t shock me if he was good for the week after. He didn’t seem too phased by it.
Brown’s is the concern but an MCL is much better than a PCL or ACL. Fingers crossed it’s low grade.

I'm thinking coach goes Sharpe and Smith in the halves with Hunt in the 1.

Guess he will want Sharpe touching the ball as much as possible in close to the action, given we won't have Ponga and Brown creating for us. Hunt can hopefully do a job there in the 1 and see from there.

Alternate, Gags in the 1.

Hopefully they think it’ll be a walk in the park like it’s generally been for them the last few seasons and they get pantsed.

Warriors here, well done on your start to the season, good to see. Are Ponga and Browb definitely out, a shame if so, I dont like seeing anyone hurt

For us we are rapt with our guys. Forwards are going well and we have good depth across the squad. Probably CNK at 6, i dont think Linnane is ready yet, he has impressed pre season according ti reports. Hakasima wilk start 2nd row with either Gannon or Niukore off the bench.

All the best and I am sure we will enjoy a good hard match.

On the flip side if you have Fletcher at 1, with the system we’ve been playing, that gives him the most license to pop up both sides of the field, and he’s likely getting the ball with more time and space. Better opportunities for our best attacking weapon rather than simply more ball if that makes sense.

I like shape at fullback for this one. Both Gamble at 6/7 or Hint at fullback are a flip of the coin. But I'll go experience.

That put hunt back on the bench and we have a great backup for anything happening 1-7.

With hunt on the field I dont think the bench works quite as good.

BUT! Sharpe is getting trained up in the halves so maybe dont go away from that unless there no other option.

Speaking of options, isn't it great to have 2-3 different options. whilst none are ideal, I have faith that they will get the job done better than last years halves merry go round.

Have to consider Gamble’s durability, unfortunately. HVG mentioned he came off early in NSW Cup yesterday, and it’s happened so often in the last few years. What are the odds we start with him in the halves, but then end up rejigging to Sharpe in the halves and Hunt to fb anyway?

Yeah the severity of hamstring stuff can vary wildly and the ice was off with him moving around okay after the game.

I don’t think they’ll take any risks with him but it’s not outside the realm of possibility the physios will have him right for next week.
