NRL Round 25 - Knights Vs Broncos - 2:00pm Sunday 24th August - McDonald Jones Stadium

Lefty

Danny 'Bedsy' Buderus
We have a week to dust ourselves off before we play the Broncos on Old Boys Day.

AOB said in the post match press conference that we have minimal injuries from the game today and Crossland should be available to play next week.

Luckily for the Old Boys they can reminisce with their mates about the good old days.

😬 Well that's embarrassing, he should've said they're all walking wounded with a bad stomach bug going around to save a little face after the game.

My team vs broncos w/ reasons
  1. Connor Votano (gk)
  2. Dom Young
  3. Dane Gagai (c)
  4. Bradman Best
  5. Wilson De Coursey
  6. Tyson Gamble
  7. Jake Arthur
  8. Jacob Saifiti
  9. Jayden Brailey
  10. Tyson Frizell
  11. Jermaine McEwen
  12. Kai Pearce-Paul
  13. Phoenix Crossland
Bench
14. Matt Arthur
15. Lachlan Crouch
16. Leo Thompson
17. Mat Croker
Replacement
18. Fletcher Hunt

Connor Votano - Whilst his debut was meh he should have gotten a try that Cogger messed up, CV is a good player I believe the humidity got to him and his debut, he still has superior ball playing than Hunt and is faster so I’d be tempted to keep him at fullback plus he is a goal kicker.

Wilson De Coursey - first things first I’d be fine if Hunt also comes in here but I just said De Coursey as a place holder. Marzhew is really abysmal this is the same guy that couldn’t be a week to week starter for the Titans, his defence is shocking, he has the same Ariel ability as someone standing at 5’2, he can only run and apparently that means first grade for the Knights standards, I don’t care about the people that look at his meters, it means literally nothing if you let defenders go past you or above you to score tries, when you can only run hard and nothing else you’re a liability not an asset.

Leo Thompson - he isn’t doing anything to prove he is a starter, Frizell shows more passion and commitment when playing prop, has far greater leg speed and drive, I just don’t see Leo as a dominate forward leader when a second rower out does him.

Matt Arthur - I think he played fine granted he didn’t set the world on fire but he will need more first grade to get used to it and start feeling more confident, he has been really good in cup but he needs more game time in firsts.

Mat Croker - Used as a 13 rotation, he has shown he can handle a ball playing lock role well and can come in to give Crossland a break

Lachlan Crouch - has been playing really well in cup, very solid all round prop, can take the hard carries whilst being defensively sound, safe hands meaning he doesn’t lose the ball much and is a out and out prop, only played short minutes in cup though so not sure if injured.

Tyson Gamble - I really don’t want to see Cogger in first grade again after he showed he doesn’t belong at this level. I also want to see Jake at his normal halfback position, Gamble has been alright I guess so he should take the role over Cogger, hell I’d take Mitch as well from cup at least he has a huge kick.

Agree 100% mate. It looks to me like the speed of first grade is knocking the wind out of Arthur a bit but to me that means he should get a bit more time at that level, a proper taste of it, now while results don't matter.

Good team KPG, only doubt is left wing but you name Hunt as alternative, my pick.
Not sure about Gamble fitness but yes if ok, if not Hastings.
Frizell at prop with two props on bench is good, look stronger

I agree with the side except for Gamble. I’d have Hastings instead

I know we are scrapping the bottom of the barrel, but Gamble is just so bad. I really don’t get why people keep suggesting him. Hastings isn’t much better, but in my opinion he is better

As for Marzhew, I don’t want to see him in first grade again. He can go off to the super league where he’d be great. He’d become a cult figure over there. For us, he is such a liability. He is lazy, won’t turn and chase, he actually ambles back in defence. We’d be better putting a statue there. At least a statue will hold its position or get in the way of their attackers

Old boys day again, and again likely another demoralizing performance.

I'm surprised that the club hasn't been reported for elder abuse by now.
We have a lot of old season ticket holders and most of the sides efforts at home this season have been akin to abuse.

I like the lack of Cogger! And agree with Gamble!

Not sure why anyone expected us to win in Townsville given we always lose up there and our attacking issues before we lost 3 of our 5 most dangerous players.

Should be better at home for old boys day but another big loss coming up here.

I didn't expect a win, in fact I didn't even watch a single minute of the game.

But, I was hoping we would not get pumped 38 - 4 against 4th last and only one position on the ladder higher than us, who also have an against points record of 614.

However you slice it, it was a poor, and disappointing showing.

The home game against the Broncos could be our last as we are not going ahead with platinum seats if they are going to dish up this rubbish. We are long term members, but unfortunately there is no joy in watching a terrible team coached by a person who seems to have nothing, injuries or not.

End of last season I was seriously giving thought to not renewing my membership. I did though but only because I thought I'd miss going to home games, going to the stadium, hearing the crowd and the atmosphere.

To be honest I've probably been to about half the home games this year due to work and other commitments, but I've just not felt I've missed any great moments. Really most of the time I've thought I'm glad I didn't go and have to watch that live. At home I can switch it off. And I don't need to hear that embarrassing If there's a lesson to be learned we're handing it out song as they run out already getting pumped by the opposition.

I mean we have won 2 home games all season and thats not likely to change this weekend. ****ing 2! That's disgusting. Members should get a refund based on that performance. Deplorable.

Broncos training at Maitland Thursday arvo and Payne Hass going to his old teams stomping ground of Pradbury Park at Woodberry either Thursday arvo or Friday arvo this week

If anybody wants to add some laxatives to the Broncos water supply on those days might be handy for our chances on the weekend
