NRL Round 24 - Cowboys Vs Knights - 4:05pm Sunday 17th August - Country Bank Stadium, Townsville

It's more like when he initially extended there was a reduced payout number in the deal for if we decided to part ways early, and Moses persuaded Uncle Phil to drop that clause. I'm pretty sure the big payout now is just because AOB is entitled to the entire rest of his deal. Sort of like how Siebold could have demanded the entire value of his Brisbane contract if he dug his heels in but I think he just decided it was smarter for a PR perspective to take a reduced one, then go get another job (might have tanked his employability if he went too hard).

This is just something which has floated around, heard it from a mate who works for the club, sort of stuff. It may be ********. It may explain why AOB had performance-based clauses before (such as they were, until sometime last year the chat was as long as he finished above 12th he was safe, but now it's we have to pay him no matter what), but now he doesn't. Who knows. I spat it out like it's fact because I'm frustrated with how they're playing lol.

The clause was if we finished 12th or above last year (or just above 12th, don't remember exactly), then the final three years of his contract were enabled - 2025-27. If we finished below that, then it was open to renegotiation, or either side walking away.

And yeah, now it's enacted, we would have to pay the remainder of the contract if we sack him.

@jamesgould Who cares if the wests/knights pays him out. It’s the pensioners $$ they fleece.
Not like wen the club was a public asset we had to be accountable for spend.
It’s now a private play thing to sportswash their pariah Casino business- besides the nrl are stumping up $15m/year before a ball is kicked, and any coach payout is outside Salary cap.
Only thing holding progress on this front is the ego of the man who made the wrong decision 7 yrs ago. Come on Philly G, admit you got it wrong, and move on.

I’m not saying anyone should care or not, I was just giving the details of the contract.

This was the first game I've missed in years, I actually forgot about it as I was doing a bbq and was distracted. But this is where I'm at with the club where I truly expected this result and wasn't looking forward to it with any hope whatsoever. When I saw the final score I was glad to have saved myself the pain.

I switched it off right after the cows scored the first try as I just knew how it would pan out, so glad I saved myself the headache watching it.

Snap! Downloaded the game to watch on a flight from Chicago to Bogota. Started watching before boarding but didn’t carry on once on the plane.

How embarrassing

Funny how other teams still manage to score points even when they make a lot of errors

When Knights tragics can’t bear to watch their team’s games, there is something profoundly wrong.
This is half my gripe, its just a s hit go to the fans. If OB's contract ended this year they wouldn't extend him.

So the reality is that the club doesnt give a flying **** about the fans. And it clearly values profitability over success (where they view success as marginal)

Mate iam that bad i only watch to cheer for the other team...iam filthy when the opposition makes an error.
Its terrible. Was a paying member for 10 years. Have my entire man shed decked out in red and blue, and now its come to this. Been like it for a few seasons. I really can not stand the fella.

At least every loss is one loss closer to the end of AOB’s tenure as head coach.

And every time the team loses badly, the Knights’ management must question whether they need to pay whatever they need to pay to sack him now.

I'm waiting till the end of season. Hoping they punt him then.
