NRL Round 24 - Cowboys Vs Knights - 4:05pm Sunday 17th August - Country Bank Stadium, Townsville

Worst game in a poor to terrible season, too many dropped balls giving them easy tries with very few playing well enough for automatic selection next week.
Changes to side??? Do we bring Hastings back 5/8 maybe, Crossland to 7, Friz was good at 13, Hunt to left wing, what do we do with f/b. Didn’t get a lot out of bench, Arthur M, Croker, Jones and Cant.
I don’t have the answer other than we don’t have the team along with too many injuries to star players

DanKnights, I wish he was being considered for the position. That team today needs a good kick up the a#se. Bradman looked like he's already clocked off and on his way to Bali. There's no pride in their effort & they look like they don't care. it should've been 6-all apart from we have a halfback who can't do a simple schoolboy drill of draw and pass. Saifiti can't even keep the ball when he's over the line, pathetic. I
used to count down the weeks until the football starts, now I count how many weeks until the Knights games are finished.

Maybe hastings/arthur , think crossland has to go straight back to 13 . id go hunt to fb assuming the decision to debut votano was to get gags back into the centres.

Yeah mate the desperation is gone. The whole quote from AOB is ". We have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable". They've all cashed out apart from a few. I mean would you give effort if everyone else was just playing in the puddles and kicking rocks. It's time to start making some tough calls, whether that be coach or staff/players.

I think aob and all assistants go right we need a full reset conditioning staff included that centre of excellence does it even have weights we are getting dominated in every single bit of contact our attack is worse then the team of kids that got the three spoons in a row at least they were all effort
 
Surely comments like this from the 4x grand final assistant earns him coach of the year honours

I'm sure I'm not the only one who went into this season with low expectations given our roster (although not my old man, who had us winning the title again as he does every year). But I did hope we'd at least be in the mix for the 8, not the spoon, which is increasingly looking like it will be hard to avoid.

However, I am looking forward to next season with several stars returning from injury, an improved roster, and some young talent to be genuinely excited about.

I just hope the Knights get the coaching decision right. That two years left on AOB's deal won't protect forever, with the team looking awful before the injury crisis, they look like a rabble now. If he does survive into next season, I don't for a second believe Peter Parr will give AOB a long reign with a rebuilding/rebuilt roster in 2026/27 if the team is not performing.

I’ve been saying this for months. If anyone part of the current coaching staff had any great ideas on how to fix this (at least the things within our control in context of available roster) we’d be seeing evidence of it, but we’re getting worse.

To me what we’re screaming out for is a whole new coaching team with fresh eyes. Often when a team is going badly, it’s very hard to step back and look at things objectively when you’re already in it.

I do think McDermott would be a better choice than Green, but that’s a very low bar. Even if we sack AOB we’re going to be immediately ridiculed for promoting Green.
 
With the Green thing it just bothers me that we’d promote a not very successful assistant instead of consider someone with a good track record as an actual coach. I mean he could be awesome, but do we have to be the litmus test for the experiment? Doesn’t Newcastle deserve better than, ‘let’s wing it and hope for the best?’

I say give the giant angry Englishman a go. We did alright with the last pommy coach we had if memory serves correctly? 🤔

What has Green done exactly to deserve that sort of promotion, especially without a proper recruitment process?

He has literally zero credentials to be deserving of the job. All the chatter out of the club is that he’s liked by the players. Well no ****, players always like the assistants. Doesn’t mean he can coach if the part of the game he’s responsible for is record-breaking bad.
