There's honestly nothing in it mate. During a game early last season, someone posted that things were going so badly for the Knights that they were actually excited to see Brodie come off the bench. At that point I suggested (in jest) that Brodie was the x-factor, and it kinda stuck.

Slots then furthered the legend that is Brodie by adding 'origin hopeful'.

All good mate, I’ve had a few laughs at the x-factor nickname and a few jokes with the origin hopeful comments.
Then I started wondering where it came from, “surely no one has genuinely suggested it?”
Then the worry set in as I thought more about it, “I hope I hadn’t had too much to drink after one of his good games and suggested it in the heat of the moment 😬”.
I have been a bit of an underdog fan of him since the start…
I even checked my own history to check I hadn’t said it 🤣
 
Matt Arthur might be doing himself a disservice by playing
Coach will tell him to do some mid field bombs that don't go high enough and don't show any creativity then he won't be offered a contract anywhere
 
I was always confused with the Gamblor/ Lord Gamble comments - but most originated during his time at Brisbane and were quite prevalent on Reddit.

Saw a few comments over the years try and explain the origins, however, like most of the internet, trying to find a serious response is tricky.

A few explanations:

Lord Voldemort - there were a few references to Gamble for presumably looking like Voldemort. Or because he was a master of the “dark arts”.
Some referred to him as Voldemort. So I can only assume that the next step or related step is to refer to him as Lord Gamble.

Gamblor - Simpsons reference. The god of gambling or the god of random events. Could merely be a reference to his surname, his gambling habits or the “totally random” (said in a school girl voice) way he could affect a game positively or negatively - a roll of the dice which one.

I then think a few cottoned on to the Lord Gamble reference, a few did not and thought it was a bit of a cult reference that some section of supporters saw him as a saviour for their form.

Regardless, I think the origins of both references are not seriously considering him a “god” or “lord” in a serious, positive way. More tongue in cheek.
