NRL Round 19 - Knights Vs Storm - 3:00pm Saturday 12th July - McDonald Jones Stadium

All we have to do from now on 5th tackle kick to dom young have 2 or three players supporting in case dom backs it back
One in the middle running in case dom kicks it back in

That's our game plan from now on

Or early ball to gags and hope gags beats the centre and offloads for dom to runaway
The Knights are so screwed down by Obi ball that they very rarely play what’s in front of them, or react positively throughout the game when the opposition neutralise Obi ball tactics.
Mind you, NSW didn’t either in Origin 3 with QLD rushing defence.
Or is it just the ability of modern day players that they can’t think for themselves?
Or allowed to think at all?

Anyone know the crowd figure from today, didn't look great with plenty of gaps in both stands.

I don't think anybody really thought we were a chance today so with that in mind, we did compete decently.

Melbourne are just light years ahead of us as a club and that was enough to carry them through.

Ref though, Hastings penalty for the push on the kicker, kicker leg on the ground. I can't understand how ref, linesman and bunker can't get that right. And that was a penalty where the ball landed. Another one, NAS way offside on kick chase, nothing done, then penalty against us which was overturned on appeal. Again, what are all the officials doing the onside is one of the crucial things they need to watch.

Anyway, ref didn't impact the result significantly.

Result was as expected.
Bit over 21,000.

I wonder if we'll see clubs employ an overarching club coach at some stage? I think it would have some real benefits. Getting back to what we were talking about on here a month or two ago, in the early days of the Knights when the likes of David Waite had the entire club training and skills work all feeding into the same systems and structures. So when players reached first grade, they were really prepared and could slot straight in.

I think that sort of thing would still have huge benefits today. Maybe it still happens to some degree, but I don't know which role would be responsible. It would almost sit alongside the Peter Parr/Director of Football role, but which much more of a focus on coaching and on-field tactics.
I am sure we are doing this, you only need ro look at how our defensive structures have held together with so many injuries this year and how younger guys have came into the side and look pretty comfortable.

Amazing discipline from Melbourne to give away only one penalty in the game no matter how long they hold the ball carrier down after an ineffective tackle or how frequently they’re within ten metres of the play the ball.
Shut up, they are a legitimate team, and always have been.

Does anyone know when Klein is randomly assigned to another Melbourne game?

Penrith are never offside, either...

Two plagues to the sport.

One is finished, though.
