After a win against the high flying Dolphins, can we make it four in a row against the Bunnies? We snuck home in a high scoring thriller against them earlier in the season, but they’ve dropped off since then with some key injuries and now sit in eighth spot, coming off a big loss to the Panthers.

Should be a fascinating match-up!

Expect a few changes with Saf injury and possibly Ponga and Best returning.
Sharpe to 6 with Smith to ext bench or Cup. Hunt back to ext bench. Frizell or Mooney fo start for SAF with Hopwood upfront.
My selection, 1 Ponga, 2 Young, 3 Gagai, 4 Best, 5 Marzhew, 6 Sharpe, 7 Brown, 8 Mooney, 9 Crossland, 10 Hopwood, 11 Lucas, 12 McEwen, 13 Croker, 14 Graham, 15 Frizell, 16 Crouch, 17 Cant, 18 Smith, 19 Hunt, 20 ESL/Jones

I’m starting to think we rest Ponga and Best. Just Best with his hammy history. Ponga fresh for the final run home. Not sure though. The side that played yesterday, albeit minus our two starting props is a good side. Sharpe would be first choice FB in a lot of teams. And Sandon is a good half. We have Graham to come on at hooker.

Having these options have suddenly made us a much better side. I think against a Souths without Trell and Cody the side that played yesterday can win that game.

Would have been great to have a bye this week or next, wouldn't it ... just to give those rep players a chance to recover. Agree on not risking Best in this match.

And as great as the bye in the final round is ... I'm sure the thinking from the NRL was we'd be nowhere near the eight, so just end our season a week early lol.

Resting KP and Best would be smart, though I’m sure they’ll want to play for Jai’s birthday event.

If we decide to rest Mooney as well I’d look at this as forwards.

8. Jones
10. Hopwood
15. Frizell
16. Crouch
18. Salesea.

I’d also be happy with Elijah being the replacement with Frizz starting. Frizz leg speed is great when he comes on. But Elijah has the same type of leg speed and has been superb in Cup and has a future at Knights as well.

We had our other byes just before Origin so can’t complain too much lol.

Last round bye is perfect given if all goes to plan you want to rest everyone in round 27 anyway. Onwards and upwards, let’s goooooo
In my ideal world we have 26 byes, finish first, go through automatically to the GF due to runaway Minor Premiership win, and then the GF is rained out and we're awarded the trophy. Undefeated season and universally acknowledged as the best side to ever walk the earth!!!

Let’s hope Loz moves Cam Murray’s to 13 for state of origin as that will help our chances of the blues winning, and also tire the poor builder right out so he isn’t a massive factor against us on the weekend.
A lot of their good stuff alwaysd comes Marin him, weeks and walker, so already 2 of 3 out, if Murray plays not much part then we should win, wont be a smashing but a 8-12 point win even just helps broaden that gap for us.

The only time I can think of when we had a bye in the last round was 2006. On the flipside they didn't have the bye until Round 12 or 13 or something like that, and it showed in their games closer towards it. Then they played that brutal match against Manly where Buderus was suspended and got the touch up against the Broncos and had nothing in the tank.
Not complaining but they might rest some guys anyway who definitely do need it and have niggles, as much as I'd hate for guys to be rested unnecessarily. Mainly because you dont want to have guys (as a team) going two weeks without playing if it's not necessary.

Crazy we still have rep footy in mid season...why not have SOO end of season?
Always teams sweating on injuries through rep sides.
I think they tried that in 2020 and people didn't like it. Weekends don't seem as popular but I'd take it on a Sunday Night (which has been one of the slots in the past) Not sure what the perfect solution is. I'd support the standalone week or weekend but then that's three weeks you lose, either then you shorten the season or extend it.
Or if it's standalone Wednesday, just have a few games of teams not affected by it on Sunday afternoon (which can vary and isn't exactly a perfect solution either)
