NRL Round 18 - Knights Vs Dolphins - 4:05pm Sunday, 5th of July - McDonald Jones Stadium

I thought defensively we were good against the Tigers. If we can bring that same defensive resolve will go a long way to winning this game. I put the poor weather conditions down to us not scoring many points agains the Tigers.

With their outs on paper maybe we should win but on form I can’t see us winning, unless there’s a pretty big turnaround

The Fins last 6 weeks has been much better than the Knights that’s for sure.

Even with all their outs, they still have Herbie, Fuller, JMK and Nikorima, plus their edge back rowers are good too, so scoring points won’t be a problem for them.

I hope they win but not expecting it

Maybe we're talking across purposes. I said I couldn't understand your line of thinking in saying "Our offensive shape is too often ineffective". Sounds like you also don't agree with that statement given the subsequent description of our ability to attack.

Not sure what there is to revisit in a month. Could we lose against the better teams we now run up against? Of course
Against lesser teams we can get away with 'offensive shape that is too often ineffective'. That was part of the point I was making. Against better teams we will need to be better with the ball than we have been the past 6 games.

Anyway, we could debate semantics and stats or we could just wait to see it play out.

I reckon we win max 2 of our next 8 games - for the reasons i mentioned above

Having Hunt at left centre might help counter some of the aerial dominance Isaako will have over Greg. I wonder if on the last tackle they will switch over so Hunt can go head to head. We’ve seen Greg have some absolute shockers when playing against the Dolphins despite our relatively good record against them. The 2023 game in Perth springs to mind where Isaako got a first half hat trick.

I'm looking at the upcoming draw for our final nine games and feeling similar ... there's a lot of tough games in there, and we could easily end up dropping out of the eight if we don't improve pretty drastically.

But - seasons are full of ups and downs, no teams ever really play at 100% of their potential for the whole year. Hopefully we are up for things on Sunday and we can start to enter another strong run of form. We've kept winning during our drop off, so that's a positive ... and feels like we can't have wasted much mental or physical energy on these games, so we shouldn't be feeling burned out. But we do need to take a big step up from the last few weeks. The top four is there if we want to take the opportunity.

Love the optimism Les lol. Let’s check this post in 8 weeks.

I can only see 5 match ups where we are in front. Another 5 where they are in front and the rest are marginal.

Well if you say so James, I worried now also. You are braining the tipping comp right now. Do you know what your position is overall?

Yep billy posted the results from hunt v McCarthy. Surely the club seen that aswell? I'd go with macca just based on his recent form. Has played more games and minutes than hunt.

The only remaining games that concern me are the Roosters at home and Warriors away. All the rest are winnable imo. We definitely need to improve on the past few weeks though

If we click back into attacking form, which I can’t see why not we are a dangerous side. But it is difficult to tell at the moment. We created opportunities against the tigers just couldn’t capitalise. Errors and defence a concern also.

The team doesn't have an attitude problem, you don't have the whole team chase back a length of field break and line up on the try line by the play the ball with an attitude problem.

Our attack will work if we do the fundamentals right, predominantly hold the ball and respect possession.

Our defence is already passable and we do need to improve a little with that. Dolphins will score points no matter our defence so the key to this is holding the ball and executing.

This really should be a high scoring slugfest. It will be if we are up for it, or it could be a heavy defeat if we aren't.
