NRL Round 11 - Knights Vs Titans - 2:00pm Sunday, 17th of May - Suncorp Stadium - MAGIC ROUND!!!

Just finished watching. Horrible start. One where previous lot the rot would’ve just set in and the game would’ve gone from bad to worse. PTSD had me thinking we could miss an opportunity at half time but I also for once had a quiet confidence that if we went back to a game plan we’d win. Our backs were electric and Sharpe really can play 1-7. And not just to plug a hole.
 
I watched live, but wasn’t able to post. Surprised to see all the comments about the ref being a cheat etc, didn’t notice any issues myself. Nice to escape that endless narrative for a week tbh!

Just have to echo those that mentioned our defence. I think a stat popped up saying 28 tackles to 1 inside the 20 at one stage? And it was 6 all! Really impressive, and we always have points in us, so I thought we’d pretty much won that at halftime, when momentum eventually switched they wouldn’t be able to match us. Titans played well in that first half though, wasn’t like we made a huge amount of errors in that first half, we were well ahead on that stat. So a good test for us, and another tick for us in 2026, imo. Games don’t always go your way 100%, so to hold on and turn it around was great.

But we did look a bit flat in that first half … we need the bye, think we’re in the last five sides to get one, so it’s well earned next week.

Shout out to Brown who just endlessly cleaned up half breaks all game. That guy really works overtime in defence for us, such an important cog in that area.

That try Sharpe scored cutting back in and burning the fullback tells me he’s back to 100% fitness too … was it against Souths he tried the same thing and was cut down pretty easily? Great to see.

I think our good is far better than the Titans good, so we might only need one good half of footy to get this one done.

Challenge is going back out there and making that happen after frustrating ourselves all half.

Glad we were up for the challenge.

Just finished the second half after only getting to see the 1st at work.

Ended up a great win in the end heading into the bye.
 
Croker this season reminds me of Lachlan Fitzgibbon did the season he left us. It’s like all of a sudden he realises what his job is and it’s clicked. Was fantastic today being in all the right places, creating some second phase with offloads and plenty of starch in defence.

Been a fan a long time and just wanted to see him be better. It’s great seeing him play with maturity and consistency.
 
I thought our marker play was really poor in the first half, and players were slow to get back 10m. So many times the ref was calling players out for not being square, or too slow to get back (they were justified). Glad we could regain composure after a large stretch of defence on our own line.

I've seen him play like this plenty of times in reserve grade. He has had his hands tied in first grade for some reason (😉😉) but can now be himself . He always used sleight of hand to maximise how he hit the line but has been used as an undersized battering ram the last few years.
 
On reflection, the story out of the game was Fifita going into the game with SOO aspirations if he could match it with Best, and then getting his arse kicked by a kid who had never played centre in his life before.
Sharpe had his measure in both attack and defence.
If anything, Sharpe might have played himself into the extended SOO squad as a future prospect.

Crokes has been "the thinking man's prop" all the way back to under 16s. His brother Harry was the same, but a second rower.
He's just being allowed to play his natural game now.
Jack Hilliar in Flegg is similar - a prop with a plan - a halfback in prop's clothing.

Proving himself to be 18 or 19 at this stage. Can play anywhere in backs and six.
