NRL General Recruitment and Retention

**** teams will always offer above market value when you think about it. Hell we probably did during the spoon years...who was paying an 18 year old Ponga 500-600k? lol

I think it should be something reworded to be like the minimum 'market value' someone can offer. That said...if Hudson Young's deal in the final of his deal is $1.1m because say the Raiders always have to offer more and they want to extend at about that much give or take then teams shouldn't be allowed to, say offer less then $900k.
The Chiefs should not be allowed to offer less then what the Raiders are. At all, for any player, tax free dollars, suck it up buttercups.

if we were to use the Bradman Best example. No one should be allowed to offer less then 700-750k.

Cooper Bai to leave the Titans and likely end up in PNG.

If the Titans were a Sydney based club and didn't have Matty Johns and Gorden Tallis owning shares at the club, they'd be bagged more than the Tigers and Dragons have.

Yep and young hookers in particular can be really hard to project. Honestly kudos to the Sharks for persisting with Blayke Brailey because he was honestly not good for a fair while. Now IMO he's pretty clearly the #2 hooker in the game.

That just tells you there aren't really many elite hookers in the game these days. Plenty of capable ones, and maybe some good ones. But it's a dire list. Probably why we were happy to have Crossland there. Like if they both were injured the week before an Origin game, who are we picking? *crickets

Roosters pulled sam walkers extension.
Maybe they saw his performance in the green and gold.

The dominos that fall because of this will be interesting. He’s gonna command a fair chunk of salary cap - Roosters offered 1.3M a season, ratchets maybe taking it to 1.5M.
It’s alleged he agreed to these terms, and then when his agents went to the meeting, they had changed their tune - so Politis cracked it. Still a chance they get it done imo.

Roosters need a half. Unless now’s the time we finally see Rodwell given a crack with Savala.

He’s got his premiership ring now, so does he take his money in PNG?
Short of Brisbane, I’m not sure who else could come in with that kind of money. Think Tigers have been burned with their marquee signings. Titans maybe.
Cant see Storm wanting to spend that much, but could be on their radar for Munster replacement.

Sam Walker is way better than Tom Dearden. Dearden's almost a reverse Sam Walker. No creativity, can't pass, zero attacking kicking game, but runs it strong and defends really well. Show and go merchant and there are lock forwards who kick a footy better than Tom Dearden. Dearden is right in the middle of the pack as far as NRL halves go and him becoming the highest paid player in the game when the cap goes up will be hilarious.
