Security Measures Taken

Extra measures are being taken by Newcastle Knights management to ensure EnergyAustralia Stadium remains a safe family environment, when the Knights host the Bulldogs this Friday night.
Following last week’s unfortunate crowd behaviour at the NRL’s Harmony Day fixture, sparked by a minority of unruly spectators, Knights CEO Ken Conway has met with authorities to identify potential issues.
“We have always raised our levels of preparedness when hosting teams with elements of disappointing spectators, but in the Bulldogs case, history proves the problems are Sydney basedâ€, said Mr Conway.
“I had nothing but praise for the behaviour of Bulldogs fans at last year’s fixture; in fact, I telephoned Malcolm Noad personally to pass on our congratulationsâ€.
The Bulldogs will also have their own security presence at EnergyAustralia Stadium, personnel who attend every match and are familiar with the club’s supporters.
“Bulldogs security will be working with police and our own ground staff to assist in identifying any potential offendersâ€, Mr Conway said.
“In the last four years at EA Stadium, crowd behaviour at Bulldogs matches has been relatively quiet and preparations have been effectiveâ€.
“Supporters have every reason to feel safe about turning out to witness a great game of football.â€
Meanwhile, fans travelling to Friday night’s match by rail are reminded buses will replace trains between Morisset and Newcastle due to major track work and are advised by CityRail to allow an extra 50 minutes travel time.
