Nathan Brown discussion

Brown is delusional in that presser. Talking about our intensity in the first 4 weeks. We've been playing teams that aren't on their game each week and getting away with close games. Our intensity has not been there at all except for round 1.

When we play one of the contenders we are going to get spanked if we play with week 2-4 intensity.

Atm id say all the teams that have beat us are finals bound and contenders.
Manly had a horrible 2018 but a roster that should of gone deep into September.
Canberra can destroy any team when they have a crack.
Penrith should be in a GF already.

Our biggest problem is stupidity at times we need to be controlled.

Barnett offload when we had momentum and position, lost it all as ball went to ground.
Watson dropped ball from dummy half, again when we had momentum.
Those 2 moments hurt a truckload.
Add the foot on the lone from Lee and thats 3 moments we could of seen a different finish.
The first 15 was terrible tho

I respect your opinion on here, but all I see is excuses.

Those teams may be finals bound, but they were off their games when we got them. We were lucky in a few of those games that they were off, as they bombed about 3-4 tries in two of those and what was a close score line flattered us.

Our biggest problem is not stupidity. It is absolutely no intensity. We are not playing with any conviction, we are not playing like a team that recognises the challenge before them and rises to it.

They are running out there thinking they can "just do enough" and will win. Today, it was clear from the first set we were off.

How many of those errors that happen are due to a a player not being on his game, not up for the game at the right intensity.

If we were running out there and showing intent in defense, willingness in attack I'd be more inclined to blame some players. Our D line in each tackle, the closest 4 players would run up in D a few meters and the rest of the line walked up a meter and watched. Often the entire line would move up less than 2-3 meters and stand flat footed waiting for the attack to arrive to them.

@rhugh89, can we please get a thread going (or maybe adjust this one) where we can get a vote on the various members thoughts on what the Knights should do with coach Brown? I think it would be a good sample size to see where we are all at. I know on Fox they said a few fans starting to feel nervous and ask questions. I think three options covers it..........a) give him to end of season, let’s see; b) he needs to go now so we can rescue our season; or c) give him the whole year and let’s see how he starts next year once the team has had 12 months to “gel”
Done mate, If anyone has any suggestions on more poll answers happy to update / change :)

Honestly if you're 5% off in the nrl you look like a fool.
Unfortunately we have a handful of players that will be that 5% off and bring our whole team down.

Look at the Tigers, they have had a solid roster for the past 3yrs and done nothing, due to a handful of players that are 5% off on the day.

We're not a team coming off 3yrs of finals footy with a major semi last yr, its a long road to get to the rewards of being the elite teams, it sucks arse that we have some awesome players and still seem second rate, though once it all comes together, the flow on will be worth the hurt we as fans have had.
I stand behind Brown 100% atm, he's not the sole reason for the loses.

I can't sack Brown after one bad loss. But I reckon if we're out of the finals race well before the seasons over, then it's time to move on & look at someone else. Don't forget we have Kristian Woolf around, he could be an option too.

He needs to go now, but who do we get? Geoff Toovey is the only one I would consider.

Agree with everything you said...but my question is why does the knights always have these dumb players in the team?

Whenever we have momentum I anticipate someone doing something stupid and it always seems to be the same players, Barnett and Watson.

Settle down guys and save some of that spleen.

Nineteen more rounds to go you will all be stressed out by then. Some of our forwards are limited - Gavett, Barnett, Fitzy and possibly with Guerra out for a long term not looking too bright.

We owed Brown a chance to coach the full squad he put together, because we asked him to do the slash and burn job he did.
The sad part is that if he goes out now, with a horrible record, he'll never get another coaching job.
The only question for me is when we decide he has had the shot we owed him?
He has ruthlessly cut any player he has lost faith in, and the same standards should be applied to him.

Brown should not be cut right now. He deserves his chance to turn it around, but already rumblings in the media about his future and whether that is true or not people are starting to question if Brown is right for the job.

We are, LU is, media are, and I'd wager wests certainly are.

I reckon he has until origin to turn us around or he is out.

Brown mentions the one out in the press conference and the impression I got is he wasn’t happy they were playing one out.

Do you think its likely we play finals from here? What about if we lose to the Titans?

Not likely at this stage, but still able to be turned around. Certainly a few more losses in the coming weeks though & it looks just about all over.

Talk of sacking coach is crazy, he should see out this season or at least until mathematically we can’t make 8, someone else taking over will still have same players. Some players are not playing well for one reason or another but finding suitable replacements mid year with cap restrictions is limited.
Let’s just hope coaching staff and players get act together and things improve, if not then act.

Is it fair to say next week is a "must win game" ? If we loose are we "still a mathematical chance of making the 8" ? Is the gap between our worst and best getting bigger, smaller or staying the same ? Have we got enough players from good systems who now how to get up for game yet ?

How good is it, round 5 and we are talking about being a mathematical chance to make the 8.

Maybe if we poach enough players that already know how to win, we wont need a coach at all.

Thanks mate. Perhaps one more option which on second thought is a logical one (for me at least). Review Brown’s contract once it is conclusive (or close to) that we will not make finals. Because I think we all agree that was the benchmark this year. We might disagree on how long we give Brown but we all agree that top 8 was pass and all else fail.
