Nathan Brown discussion

I took it with a grain of salt. Some people like to argue the fact. Makes for conversation I suppose.

Exactly, some people on here expect the forum to be all happy clapping and group hugs. All the same opinions and if you have a differing view it's
lynch mob" time lol.

I believe, and still believe, the team would be better served with Lamb at 5/8. Watson isn't what we need to win a premiership there! I think we need two genuine playmakers, kicking options etc. Now that's my opinion, for that I must be part of the Watson lynch mob lol.

It's a forum people, opinions will differ on what is best for the team. This difference fuels the conversation. I'm a bit sick of this "lynch mob" crap personally.

Bit I liked most is they trying to lock up mooney long term too, a great recruitment manager is a key to long term success, so far mooney with cronulla and so far here has shown he has the knack

Mooney doesn't get a lot of the credit for our recruitment success. I'm very happy we are looking to secure him long term.

Seems like we have learned from the Brian Smith days from 10 years ago. Let the coach finish their job. And even if they sacked Brown after a one win season it wasn't as if there was another coach that was going to make them better overnight. I'm just glad Brown is overseeing this rebuild and not Stone. Has certainly had his fair share of adversities within his time hear which would have knocked back another coach on his feet but the harder part is done now.

It is a forum with differences of opinion but there were a lot of people on here that wanted to lynch Brown before the season even started and further back than that when they were saying he couldn't coach or recruit players or do anything right .
Funny how we have recruited well and won the first 2 games and they are nowhere to be seen .
Difference of opinion is one thing Bagging the crap out of someone that is doing the job and a job you couldn't do is something else entirely ..

I'm still here and I'll be judging Brown's coaching in 2018 because as I've said there wasn't much to judge previously. My area of concern is defence.

there wasn't much to judge previously...Really.... he was coaching a reserve grade side at best last year and they got better and better through the year . That tells me he was doing a damned good job ....

The harder part is just starting. Burning down the house is the easy part. building a new one is the hard part.

The hard part started as soon as that fire was out, it's not just starting now. They had to attract quality players to a club that had won 2 spoons in a row and were easily going to win a third, with virtually nobody of note to play along side, and a promise that things will get better. Not an easy task.

Ponga was a masterful piece of recruiting, added to the solid first graders we added prior and since, along with the icing on the cake in Pearce I would say they have already done a fantastic job of building a new one, to this point.

I would say the harder part is over. Now we can see the fruits of that time with some good results and moving up the ladder.

game two - job done - fantastic.

Any coach will look better if he gets a good side to coach, Brown looks better this year due to squad improvement from which wins will come, how many will now depend on his coaching, all will be revealed at seasons end and then how it continues over the following.
You put any of the current coaches to coach Cowboys or Storm and they make the 8 or better, put Green or Bellamy there then they make the finals or better. It takes both the squad and the coach.

I'm pretty sure most could see what I was saying was that your statement that the hard work starts now is bollocks and doesn't give credit to the work done to date. You state it isn't hard to burn the place down and then say the harder work starts now, that it is hard to rebuild.

You have skipped from burning the house down to living in the new one without giving credit for the rebuild that has already happened.

For you, when is the rebuild complete? Will it take a premiership to have you acknowledge Brown's success? Or maybe top 4? Top 8 finish this season?

Personally, I think the rebuild is complete. We have new owners, cleared out the over paid and under performing dead wood, recruited well and now, it is time to keep improving on that build.

Your comment suggesting I was saying Brown is a complete success after two wins is ridiculous!

The team is competitive in all games is when the rebuild is a successful one.
Making finals or being the premiers comes down to 60% effort 30% luck 10% class.

I didn't say the rebuild is a success, I said it's complete. Brown has cleared the decks, he has his new team and thats it. Now it's time to develop the team from here as all clubs do. 9 new players this year is the rebuild, Pearce, Watson, Ponga, etc is the rebuild. Our roster is comparable to other NRL squads save for the top 4 contenders.

From here on out Brown has his team he wants, he can't lean on the we are rebuilding excuse any more. That ship has sailed!

We signed our centre already in ramien. A top class prop should be our main priority imo. would hate to see us pay big money for a winger again.
