Men’s State of Origin Game 3 2025 - The Blues Vs The Maroons - 8:05pm Wednesday 9th July - Accor Stadium

The Blues faithful are starting to move on from last night’s two point loss and are looking forward to the series decider in Homebush. My Mrs has not forgiven Lomax for his 2/5 goal kicking performance last night but she is already pumped for Game 3.

The Blues need to vastly improve their discipline and completion rate, hopefully they will not have to play in the rain again. Cleary should overcome his groin tightness and be fully fit for before the decider, having a fit Cleary will make a big difference to the Blues performance .

Hopefully no public figures say anything that the Toads can use as motivation for the game.

Thankfully the Blues have a 62% winning percentage at this venue and the Queenslanders have only won 34% of games here.

Ponga out with a Lisfranc you would have to say is probably a help to QLD.

Not sure Ponga was going to get picked, but this makes that certain. Walsh will likely offer more in attack then Ponga was.

After watching Dolphins game tonight, the Hammer was at another level above Walsh as a fullback. They both eill play for QLD in game three, but Hammer offers more at the back.

Shibasaki apparently making his debut. Come a long way from when he was with us lol.
Come a long way since being rubbish at the Broncos the first time, Cow’s, South’s and Japanese Rugby lol

Please note : This is not directed at you Maxibon.

I cannot understand how many people are upset we let him go because he has now made origin.

Bloke was bog average for years across several clubs and finally has a crack with a train and trial at the end of his career potentially being over.

Haha people are mad we let him go, really?! Did they see him play for us?

Absolute miracle he’s made it this far, but good on him. I don’t think anybody in the rugby league universe would have seen it coming.

The only thing "wrong" with Shiba was a total lack of confidence.
He had some good games for us, but if he dropped the first ball that went to him, either pass or kick, he'd hardly catch another one all game.
He has either grown out of his "nerves", or someone found an answer to getting him over them.
He could have been a good player for us if he had the confidence of Fletcher Hunt.
I suspect we gave him as many chances as we did because he always looked like a champion at training, when there was no pressure on him.

Says something about Madge if he can turn Shiba into an origin player.
When he left here, if you’d have given him the oranges at half time job he’d have dropped them everywhere.
I only put him in my SuperCoach team because he was cheap and had sentimental value. He’s made me look like a talent scouting genius.

The media have already been pushing the "Magic of QLD" narrative, and the NRL just made Klein the Origin ref again...time to check the odds on a QLD win.

That was so incredibly well put about Shiba at the Knights, we seem to have a habit of screwing some players up. It’s almost our gold standard. You have to laugh or you would be crying over the Knights at times.

Shibasaki sucked at multiple clubs and was genuinely awful for us. It’s ridiculous to say it’s any sort of fault on our part.

Tom Jenkins clearly just works better at Penrith and was missing the place, but I’d hardly say he’s set the world on fire, he’s just been solid.

Mann and King were both good for us. Imo we upgraded Mann with Crossland now playing much the same role, and King it’s a shame we didn’t keep.

Although I would have loved to see him stay, IDK that Kiraz wasn't going back to Sydney either.

Every club has its passed on Latrell stories. But for me, it's players like Meaney, who could play multiple positions and is an excellent goal kicker, who was a big miss. Also Tommy Starling and Josh King. It's letting local guys like this go to buy an import for more money with not much more ability or potential, that's been the big problem.

I like POS shedding the overpaid journeymen, saving the big $ for elite talent and otherwise looking to extend the best locals and bring in talent at the bottom.

Edit: * Extend the best locals on reasonable money.

Complete fallacy, we also nurse players with good-great potential and help them show it.

The idea of us killing talented players is as much as a fallacy as Guardiola (football coach) coaching talent out of people

Knights are going to be cashed up big time next year. I’ve been looking forward to 2026 for a couple of years for this reason, big things are on the horizon.
