Men’s State of Origin Game 1 2025 - The Mighty NSW Blues Vs The Maroons - 8:05pm Wednesday 28th May - Suncorp Stadium

Brian To'o is one of the best wingers of all time, one of my favourite players of all time too, prior to last year I had daylight as the second best winger in the NRL - cue Flanno shifting Zac Lomax to the wing.

I was always a Lomax denier when he played centre, thought he was very overhyped and routinely underdelivered for the Dragons. Since shifting to the wing he's turned into Bizza 2.0 in yardage with the added bonus of being brilliant in an aerial contest (admittedly he always had this at centre), and can kick goals as well.

One of the best wing pairings this century at a time when the wing role finds its peak relevance. A privilege to watch and I'll happily own up to being completely wrong about Lomax.

I’m enjoying the Blues domination of SOO. The Maroons will not have a home ground advantage in game 2. The Blues should be able to perform better in game 2. Bring it on!

The Queenslanders need to have a long hard look at their team selection.

Big difference in the forwards, just rolled them in all aspects. Not sure what the answers will be for QLD.

In the past NSW have been complacent on series they should have won only to go down 1-2 (2020,22-23 come to mind), QLD inevitably turn one of the games or two into a scrap fight where it depends on a few big plays here and there or an error. And they have gotten the better out of those. Last year's drama with the Sua'ali send off put their backs to the wall and they knew they had to respond in G2 like they have done plenty of times in the past and they were just the better team in G3.
Can't get complacent and turn every game into an arm wrestle.

The whole trainer kicking the ball away thing looks like a huge beatup ....he's just clearing a ball away that was behind the NSW line if you watch the overhead video.

I'm not sure what the protocols are, and maybe he should not touch it, but you see trainers clearing obstacles behind the play all the time.

QLD weren't denied a quick scrum because Moses had already thrown the ball behind him when he realised it was a QLD scrum (something RL players have been doing since Adam, and sometimes is deliberate time wasting that should be penalised when it's particularly eggregious, but mostly just part of the gamesmanship of RL).

If the trainer hadn't touched the ball, it probably takes DCE a lot longer to run over to where it was behind the NSW line and back, especially with his tired old legs, than it does to have someone throw him one from the sideline.

PS. If DCE hasn't signed that $1m deal, he'd better get on it because he looks like he needs to retire to me and not just on last night's effort.

Reuben Cotter is one very overrated player. If had anything to do with QLD selections, I'd drop him for game 2.

I'd put Jaydn Su'a in his spot and Horsburgh should have been picked over Loiero.

On KP, he looked very lethargic. I still think he's got his ambitions elsewhere perhaps going to Rugby Union. I don't think Walsh would have done any better however.

NSW will win 3-0, the pack is far superior and the outside backs yardage also a lot better. Have that dog about them that teams in years past didn't have.

But that game was the most boring origin game I've watched.
