McDonnell to the roosters??

Smith definetly likes McDonnell. Would have to be on his hit list with the roosters losing Tansey and minichello's injury worries.

If he does, I'm not too fussed. While I like him as a 1st string backup fullback, we've still got adequate depth to cover.

McDonnell already said that he wouldn't be staying. He wants to be a starting fullback, and he said that he knows that Gids is ahead of him here.

I don't think Mcdonnel will get starting anywhere he goes.

Im not sure why but Fullbacks, every team has a decent one. Or a player from a lower grade that is First Grade Standard. We like most clubs in the NRL have this never ending depth at Fullback, You can get by with simply moving your Winger to Fullback....

Uate, Gidley, Mcmanus, Lulia, Mad Dog, Hell even Ben Rogers has filled in at fullback for a stint this year.

To show this more Wes Naiqama currently playing Second Row shifted from the forward to fullback, It doesnt seem to be a tough gig.

Sorry Shannon but i havent seen much from you to pick you over Many current NRL fullbacks.

Sam Perrett was on the outer at Roosters a few months back, not sure what the situation is like now though.

With all due respect to McDonnell, I don't think he would be too big a loss really.

He was very good today, he'd be my choice, maybe even if Minichiello is fit!

He has been very good since moving their F/T in the last month or so, consistently getting over 200 metres a game, making plenty of breaks. Exactly what you want from your FB. Even playing wing against us, he was the only threatening player in their side.

McDonnell to the Roosters would be a good safe bet at this stage. What a backline they could have!!!

1- Minichiello
2- Perrett
3- M.Aubusson
4- McDonnell
5- Kenny-Dowall

Nothing to get excited about IMO.

1. Minichiello - after his injury... who knows
2. Perrett - decent player
3. Aubusson - decent defender... no attack
4. McDonnell - not a centre
5. Kenny-Dowall - average

Really so is Minichiello, graded as a winger and only luck of options at fullback after Brett Mullins departed the Rooster saw him given a chance by Stuart at the Back.

Minichiello is a great fullback when in form. He was the form fullback in the NRL back around when the Roosters were heavy weights 2002-04. Unlucky to be swamped with injuries since though.

Yep, Matho has some strange ideas ... that's an average backline.

Minichiello was fullback for most of the year in 2002. Mullins got dropped early in the season from fullback, Minichiello moved to fullback where he stayed, and Mullins moved to wing when he returned.

Definitely wasn't moved there due to lack of options, he actually ousted one of the great fullbacks from that position!
