Disappointing result for Flegg. Between them and CUP not great starts and then onto FG.

Hopefully club gets it together training wise for a better year then last year. Both of those team were at bottom of table, expecting talent to have been better this yr.

Good work by SG, Tarsha and Fioala teams.

Rooster vs Knights in SG next week to see who is in the best form. Roosters demolished Dragons this week.

I was at both games this afternoon, Ball did enough to win and Flegg were on par with NSW Cup.

Ball were not at their best today and kept the Eels in the game with far too many unforced errors (mainly from the outside backs). The middles were very good, with Hopwood outstanding again (won Players Player).

The Flegg boys were over-run in the first half by a very physical Raiders side. As with our Cup side the opposition just ran harder and tackled harder (the basics of the game that haven’t changed since 1908). Unforced errors killed us too. The boys did come back in the second half, however the Raiders intensity did drop due to their comfortable lead. I think the 12 point score line flattered us.

Very disappointing weekend for our top 3 grades. Parr and O’Brien were in attendance today.

Agree Cup and Flegg were a bit disappointing, I was lucky enough to be at both games. Lets hold fire no grand finals handed out in March. SG dearly need their captain Malachai Smith back and Wilson De Courcey, hopefully next week. I thought the year young boys Hilliar and Haami Loza were outstanding, with Hilliar wearing the 8 jumper today playing the full 70 minutes I believe, good effort in the middle and probably why both Parramatta & Penrith were very interested in him prior to resigning. He will play flegg some stage this season after watching some of the flegg middles today. Parramatta played better then where there position on the ladder suggests.

I noticed Hilliar didn't get replaced in the updates, but didn't mention it because those updates are pretty unreliable.
I've noticed over the years that the middle forwards who can do big minutes are the ones who go on to play seniors eventually. You see middles who can play 20 hectic minutes in the juniors and change games, but unless they can get the sort of fitness needed to put in effort for long minutes, they don't make seniors.
Hilliar is an exciting prospect. He is a big boy, has a big motor and also has game awareness and passing skills that are pretty rare in a young prop. He was in and out of the team with injury all last year and we never heard what the injury was, so hopefully that's all sorted and he can go from strength to strength this year.
