Mathews and Ball 2023

Mathews are 1st on the ladder - Penrith are 11th
Ball are 2nd on the ladder (Canberra had a 66 romp over Melbourne) - Penrith are 8th
Tarsha Gale are 4th on the ladder - Penrith are 12th

After seeing Hilliar rip and tear the other day I’m less upset about losing Bradbury I also think it’s a nod that frizzell is might be moving into the middle.

Last week they said the Johnston on the bench in Tarsha Gale was Caitlan Johnston's sister. I wonder if the Johnston they have named on the extended bench is another one?

SG Ball highlights - worth a look if you missed the game. Sharpe and Ferguson starting in where they left off last year.
Hadn't really watched much of the Ball side play before .... Geez Fletcher Sharpe has something special about him - great acceleration, seriously quick and a very good step and swerve to go with it. Haven't seen enough to get a sense of what he is like defensively, organising the line, taking high balls, etc. BUT that is some serious junior talent coming through the ranks right there...he reminds me a bit of Ryan Papenhuyzen 😉

Falemoe & Whitby both out due to suspension according to Toohey. Could be mistaking him but I thought Bigeni was the big prop that came off the bench last week? Interesting to see him named at centre.

Bigeni played Ball last year and I think he was always a bench middle forward and was on the bench for game 1.
I think they probably just stuck his name in there and will work out the backline during the week.

If anyone is interested in watching the under 16s and 18s, this week it's Newcastle and Maitland region Knights v Northern Region Tigers played at McKinnon Oval Aberdeen - basically the lower Hunter V the upper Hunter - so all Knights juniors potentially.
Starts at 11 am.
