Knights’ Advisory Board Confirmed

The Newcastle Knights Advisory Board was today officially announced at the Hunter Sports Group offices.
Former Knights’ captain Paul Harragon was confirmed as the Chairman of the Advisory Board. Stephen Crowe, Michael Hagan, Peter Corcoran, Nic Dan, Troy Fletcher, Trevor Crowe and Matthew Gidley make up the Board in its entirety.
“The Newcastle Knights have entered a new and exciting chapter and this Advisory Board has the opportunity and responsibility to help shape the future to ensure we deliver on our core promises to supporters,” Knights CEO Matthew Gidley said.
“Initially, the Board’s job will be to draw on our history and past successes and hold on to what is important to us. Secondly we need to create a new vision for the club that is not held back by lack of resources or goodwill.”
New Chairman Paul Harragon was also excited about the opportunity to ensure the Newcastle Knights will remain a powerhouse on the field and a true vehicle to which local junior players can aspire.
“Our community identifies very closely with this Football Club, so it is important the Board establishes clearly what is the Knights culture and brand,” Harragon said.
“The Board will develop a football strategy to achieve objectives across all aspects of our sport - from the elite NRL team through to grassroots rugby league in the Hunter and beyond.
“The unique make up of the Board means we will have the expertise and ability to, not only develop the long term strategy, but to tap into the broader community and make sure we listen to the people that count.”
The Board collectively have a great grasp and feel for the history, culture and community of Newcastle and the Knights. The Board will additionally be supported by the Knights NRL Coach and Assistant Coach.
