Knights possible targets for 2020

Josh Reynolds ….It is understood the Tigers are prepared to pay up to half of Reynolds’ $800,000 salary for the next two seasons if he can find a new NRL home. What do you think for $400,000.

Saw an article about 21 year old Brydon Ramien playing for a team out west, calling him the Mal Meninga of the west.
He played for Manly juniors as a prop forward and is much bigger than Jesse, but the youtube footage of him running over blokes out west looks just like Jesse on the charge.
1 Ponga 2 Skd 3 Ramien 4 Ramien 5 Lee ..lol

Toohey already said club not interested. Presumably because we have Watson.
Yeah fair enough too... I think we have 3 good players in Watson , Mann and Lino although Lino still has a bit too learn but that's what they brought him here for too learn off Pearce .

Reynolds is a slower version of Watson IMO. Gives everything, can do some pretty impressive things amongst the brain snaps that can cost you a game

Can’t believe some are talking about signing while so much doubt about cap, updating contracts and having to let some players go. Let’s get by with what we have, retain who we can fill any losses with our young up and comers.
If we can’t find the right player, 5/8 etc then don’t sign a fill in, get by with Lino, Watson, Mann and Crosslands for 2020 and look for the right one.
If we lose Ese’ese then no point in signing a fill in when we have JSaf, King, Saulo on books along with some young potentials.
Let’s rebuild with a clear cut plan, our cap crisis is mostly caused by overpaying some or buying players with a record of serious injury.

Ponga will be a 5/8 as soon as we have someone else who can do an adequate job at fullback.
If he were at roosters or storm, he’d already be the next big thing in the halves.
He is basically our 5/8 now anyway.

It’s strange that things work out as they do, if Ponga was always considered a switch to 5/8 then why didn’t we keep Meaney. He would have played games at 1 when Ponga out, played wing when Lee out and then been No1 at f/b when Ponga moved to 5/8 in 2020. At the moment we don’t have a back up f/b specialist, Mann is a fill in, Watson is a 9, Gagai is ???
So what is Mann on and what did we offer Meaney. Not nocking Mann but have we got it right.

I don’t think we can complain about losing one like Meaney when we seem to have been blessed with getting guys like Pearce, Ponga, SKD, Lee, Ramien, Glasby etc, and missing out on Greg and Jack Bird, Matt Scott and a heap of others we went after and luckily missed out on.
Over the years the Knights have had no luck at all with recruiting, but right now we’d have 4 or 5 of the best we’ve had, so losing one or two is fair.

I'm with your Hugh, Meaney isn't going to be someone we regret losing. Very few of those running around the NRL tbh.

Meaney will never play for Australia, but he’ll have a solid career and be as good as Hunt, Lee, Mann and half our squad.

Buzz Rothfield is reporting via the DT that Jackson Hastings will return to the NRL and join an ‘Out of town club’

You’d think it’s not Canberra because they’ve signed Williams, and you’d think Titans, Broncos, Cowboys or Storm would be described as an ‘interstate club’

Could it be us?
It might be an unpopular opinion but I wouldn't mind it. I'm still not convinced we have a long-term no 6, and if Pearce goes down I think we would turn to mud without a game manager. For the right money Hastings could be that guy, provided he's not a little brat anymore
Anyone?

Angus crighton is warming the bench at the roosters. Does he play the opposite side to fitzgibbon? I know he would come at a price but we could get sione, Barnett etc off our books.

I'd consider giving pheonix crissland the 5/8 position. Hopefully we can get rid of some of these "utilities" I'd love a bench of Watson and 3 props next year. One of which would be jsaf.

I agree that we have way too many utilities and a bench with Watson and 3 props would be nice.

Apparently Critchton is on 1mil for 3 years though, so that's a no from me.

Crichton is massively overrated. Would prefer Barnett.

Apart from trying hard, I don't see what so many people on here see in Barnett. I think we need a bigger player than him who is a better defender and attacker.

Crichton is worse defensively than Barnett. He’s done nothing in his career other than a few good games in 2017. Overpaid and overrated he’d be a terrible signing for us.

I'm not saying sign Crichton, but surely we can sign or develop a better player than Barnett. Having Barnett as one of our first choice backrowers is a sign of the malaise this club is in.
