Knights possible targets for 2020

The knights haven't done a bad job developing juniors.
In the past 6 years or so we have smashed it in juniors.
We have done a bad job moving those juniors into the senior ranks, because we'd rather buy rejects from other squads instead.
Last year we won the minor premiership in under 20s. Our two closest rivals were Penrith and Cronulla.
This year Penrith and Cronulla have rushed heaps of the players our guys outplayed last year into firstgrade, while we finally gave a few guys a run in the last few rounds.
Since Tinkler doubled our spend on juniors in about 2013 we have been the most successful junior club, except for maybe Penrith. We just can't transition them into the top grade.

Cronulla have probably done a better job bringing in other veteran presence 'reject' players into their team 'legally' like Barba, Lewis, Heighington, Maloney etc. When you are playing behind packs like theirs that are led by Fifita it's easier to bring in younger guys like Brailey and outside backs who have room to do their thing.

But then you have teams like the Warriors who were in the Grand Final in all three grades at the start of the decade and have only made the Finals once since, makes me think there is more to it then meets the eye.

I remember there was a young guy in the Sharks system called Stewart Mills who was talked about and had a pretty much dream debut on Channel 9 when he started on the wing and he disappeared off the face of the earth after that. It's a tough gig sometimes.

If Gavet and Guerra end up leaving will we need another experienced middle?
Zane Tetivano is off contact, He tends to make around 80m in 20mins.

Although he did hit his Mrs.

It may not be anyone in particular right now, more a concept of what the coach believes we need. Puts agents and clubs on notice then you see what shakes loose.

Guerra in Tele, moped crash in Bali, damaged face but nothing serious but it reads he is going to see out his contract with us.
Good he is staying.
His experience and defence is invaluable.
Hopfully Obrien plays him on an edge and he gets quality ball. His talent has been wasted the last 2 years. Imo he is still the best back rower at the club.

Guerra could have a good year working with the young forwards in reserve grade and get himself fit and ready for 4 or 5 of his best games to end his career in firstgrade finals.
Paul Marquet did that in 2001 and was a great part of our title win that year.
Just because he still has an occasional great game doesn't mean the old guy can do that for a whole season, but he can pull out a big game when we need it.

Andrew Fifita could be released from Cronulla for the right deal, i'd like to be able to put the cash together for him .

I'd rather make a play for David Fifita when he's off contract, Andrew is a pass for me.

Interesting to see the Sharks are happy to let Fifita go to lock up Graham

old guy looking for one last payday.
we got lucky with Guerra and SKD, but old guys under Bennett got paid a fortune and delivered next to nothing.

Meh Graham is more overrated then Fifita but the Sharks need leadership and he’s pretty much their best option and their next best option is daylight away.

Fifita is a threat whenever he has the ball in his hands even with the odd blooper every now and then.
