Knights utillity player Luke Quigley was sadly bashed at a hotel carpark, suffering a broken jaw he wil be out for up to six weeks!!!

I might as well add - that sucks!

Here's the article on Quigley by the way - real shocking, hopefully he can recover in time to play a few first grade games while Buderus is off on Origin duty.

Monday, May 01, 2006 - Newcastle Knights

Newcastle Knights Premier League hooker, Luke Quigley has undergone surgery for a broken jaw, following an incident at a Newcastle Hotel on Friday, 28 May, 2006.

A review of the CCTV vision has revealed Quigley was attacked from behind and set upon by two men who followed him to the Beaumont Street Hotel’s carpark at around 2.30am, breaking his jaw in two places.

The vision further reveals that Luke did not attempt to retaliate but did try to cover his head for protection.

He’s expected to be sidelined for at least six weeks and is considering pressing charges if his assailants can be identified from the CCTV vision.

Luke is suffering from a considerable degree of pain, requesting his privacy be respected at this difficult time and is unavailable for comment.

It is a blow about Thaiday, but we'll be right.
If Kurt Gidley plays fullback it's fine, and i really hope he does, as i think he is well suited to that position.
 
Its a real blow for Thaiday. I dont like QLD, but its a real blow on his Origin chances, for at least the first game or two.
Now, Quigley...do low life people purposely go around trying to make life difficult for football players? Seriously, what is it going to achieve by attacking someone from behind and trying to inflict as much pain and damage as possible. The other thing is, though, imagine if it was Johns, or Buderus, or Lockyer, or one of the well known big name players, how much hype would have surrounded it then?
I wish him a speedy recovery and hope that such things stop because it is a low life act that shows how pathetic some of the human race can be.
 
One thing why was quigley out drinking at 2.30 am on friday when he had a game on sunday?
Being an athlete he really shouldnt be out partying like that 2 days before a game
 
Yeh i was just going to mention that, he wasnt there on Sunday wen i was watchin!!!

But the Question must be asked what was he doing at 2:30am at a hotel drinking!!!

Id like that to be answered lol!!!
 
Im sorry i don't agree with you there. footballers need to have a life as well - i bet you go out on friday nights. and he didn't have to play footy till the Sunday so what harm is it in doing that.

Also what about the other knights players that were out that night i don't hear you asking questions about them???
 
I suppose it depends on what and how much he was drinking, but I still reckon 2:30 is pretty late to be out 2 days before a game. And there's no mention of any other Knights out, at least that I've seen.

Still a shocking incident though, I hope he's recovering quickly!
 
Quigley was drinking with Robbie odavis and Russell Richardson (richardson owns the hotel) .
I believe the players should have a life and are allowd to drink but not at 2.30am on saturday morning / friday nite
Also Quigly was so drunk they needed to wait till sunday to operate!
when we palyed melbourne and it was will joey play or wiont he, he once said in an interview i had a drink on thursday nite so no i wont be playing!
Thats professionalism i'm not saying it was wrong of quigley but very un professional
