Injury update.
Says Frizzel should start field running this week - which probably means he is 2 or 3 weeks away.
Says Best is due to start back in the gym after his operation - so at least a month away - probably more.
Says Mann has a minor injury but scans look good.
Says Saulo is starting to train and could make it back this year.
Says Pearce, Hunt and Randall all came through their first game OK.
Doesn't mention Lee.
Doesn't mention Crossland.

Feel very sorry for Edrick, he came here not quite top notch player, played strong and improved his game despite injuries, reached SOO level, yes partly because of injuries but mostly from playing very well.
Now he is seriously injured based on time out, and up for contract that all things being equal should have been his big pay day, alas that is not likely to happen may get a reduced rate contract but might get nothing due to injury tendency.
Wish him well, he didn’t let us down, played well and strong when fit.

Maybe we will turn around and offer him a 1 year cut price contract to give him time to show what he can do and for some of our young guys to come up and learn from him similar to Green.

Not confirmed, club wont even comment on him and Toohey basically said he is a LONG way from returning...

Fitness wise etc... no chance he plays this season in firsts anyways

Frizell targeting quick return to play

nib Newcastle Knights forward Tyson Frizell is fast-tracking a return to the playing field. After suffering a nasty syndesmosis injury in the dying stages of the Round 12 win over Manly, the strong running back rower was faced with surgery and a lengthy lay-off.

Article about Frizell that has a bit of an explanation of what this operation for syndesmosis they all seem to be getting these days is all about.

Says the operation reduces injury time from 12 weeks to 6-8 weeks.
If I understand what he's saying, they pin the lower leg bones together to immobilise the sprained ligament to let it heal a lot quicker.
Still seems crazy to me to operate for a sprain, but if it halves recovery time, fair enough.
