Kalyn Ponga discussion

Your obsession with me is now hitting new levels. That poster isn't me. I've been here long enough and copped a lot of hate already to not even bother trying an alternate identity like you have done.
Suuure

Some random starts an account to argue an obscure and desperate technicality that Ponga isnt as good as Knights fans think hahaha. And is the only member of the forum to agree with you. While mimicking exactly your sentiments

Its one thing to start a new account. Its another to pretend to be someone else to falsify support for your lonely position, which is to say that you're not the only one that was proven emphatically wrong, but you are the only one to cling to that position even after being proven wrong

Ill give it to you though, youve certainly got everyone on the same page:newcastle:

I'm sure you can hit up rhough to get confirmation that it isn't me but by all means carry on with your obsession for me.

The only attacking stats that Ponga clearly dominates is try assists/line break assists.

Lol what other attacking stats are there?

He kills him in try assists and line break assists (proving he’s a playmaker who makes others around him better), but he also runs for more metres, breaks more tackles and has less errors.

What else do you want in terms of attack?

Of course Ponga is a work in progress he only just turned 20 he wont be at his best for a few years yet but how scarey a prospect is that with how good the kid is already ...Imo the best part of his game is how well he reads the play , for a 20 yr old its great.
Stats arnt something i judge players on because they can be misleading and sometimes big time , Uate had a stat 1 game of no missed tackles but 4 try's were scored down his side and he was so far out of position that he couldn't even attempt to tackle his opposite number but had no missed .
If a player only makes 20 tackles a game but 5 of those tackle leaves 2 players unable to return leaving them 2 men short and the other 3 drop the ball in the tackle , Huge plays but stats for him arnt good ...
Ponga is already as good a F/back as we have had for quite some time and will only get better ....

You may need to get an adult to read the posts to you again. I said Ponga's attacking stats are better "but not by a great margin" and he only "clearly dominates" try assists and line break assists.

This is true, Ponga's 41 tackle breaks is marginally better than Edward's 38. Edward's 3 line breaks is marginally better than Ponga's 2. Ponga's 162.6 average running metres is marginally better than Edward's 157.6m.

However, as I said Ponga only clearly dominates the try/line break assists categories.

Likewise, again as I said, Edwards clearly dominates the defensive stats with only 4 missed tackles compared to Ponga's 14 and a tackle efficiency of 77.6% to 57.6%.

Again as I have said numerous times he is showing some great form at a young age and has huge potential but if he is to become an out and out superstar (like many on here seem to have already bestowed on him) his defence will have to improve and he will have to prove his longevity.

First your investigative skills make you look like a complete muppet with an unhealthy obsession with another forum member now your logic confirms you are an A grade moron.

Please provide the evidence which proves I have been "proven emphatically wrong" about anything.

Do you honestly think anyone would go to the trouble of opening a second account, sit dormant for pretty much a year to the day other than a few random posts mainly in the juniors section, then out of the blue jump to the defence of themselves.

You're a fool. You need to accept the fact not everyone on here has the same opinion and some use their brains to assess players objectively using logic rather than jumping on the band wagon that every young bloke who kills it at schoolboy level then performs well, above expectations and shows great potential for the first month or so of his first full season in first grade is going to be the next Lockyer, Johns or Fittler.

Sure he's been good so far but how about we all relax and put a hold on the massive circle jerk until we are sure Ponga isn't the next Karl Filiga.

Pearce said in the pre season that he felt sorry for Ponga because he had so much expectation on him.
He has pretty much lived up to it so far, but it would be nice to think the kid could have some bad games and not have half of Newcastle either slitting their wrists or gloating over his misfortune.
In other words, it would be nice if we could all just let him quietly develop (which isn't easy with him flashing around the field I suppose).

Karl Filiga didn’t show even 5% of the glimpses Ponga has shown in first grade. Terrible comparison.

You’re also cherry picking stats. You say Ponga has only slightly better attacking stats than Edwards, but then disregard the try assists and line break assists by saying they’re the only stats he dominates him in. Those are arguably the most important/valuable. He also has slightly more running metres and tackle breaks. Overall, without cherry picking, he dominates him.

Stats aside and using the eye ball test, Ponga has head and shoulders more talent and value on the football field than Edwards does. That’s no knock on Edwards, but Ponga is playing like a top 3 fullback in the game right now. Position aside, he’s playing like one of the games best talents. That’s not overrating him, that’s purely going off of his current form. Whether he can keep it up and stay consistent is another matter.

Your argument is like saying physically, a giant doesn’t dominate a dwarf in any particular area... that’s if you completely disregard size and height. Ok, what’s the point of the comparison then if you’re just going to cherry pick to suit your agenda?

Legit I was about 80% convinced it was you. After reading that I am now 100% convinced haha. You went too far and attacked me on all your normal talking points. Making the same half dozen identical arguments you always make on this topic. Legit, the same half dozen arguments made almost word for word hahaha. To the point of even citing some irrelevant junior talent who only lasted a year in firsr grade lol

Even the emotion filled essay you felt necessary to write. Haha mate total give away

If you were smart enough you'd do a Gouldy and deliberately change your grammar and make nuanced spelling errors or something

Haha, Karl Filiga didn't show 5% of the glimpses of Ian "Chook" Herron, let alone Ponga, but that wasn't the point I was trying to make I wasn't comparing them as players I was trying to point out that sometimes in all sports young players struggle to live up to the hype and pressure put on them by supporters who go overboard with their early reviews only to be disappointed when the players get worked out by other coaches, start reading their own publicity or go off the boil for any number of other reasons.

How am I cherry picking stats? I've acknowledged that Ponga is dominant in try assists/line break assists (I would argue your point that they are the most important and would say actual tries are the most important) but it's true the other attacking stats are all pretty similar without either player miles ahead of the other.

I'm the only person on here who has pointed out his defensive deficiencies, high missed tackle count and comparatively poor tackle efficiency. Are you not cherry picking yourself by ignoring these stats?

If you reckon my comparison of Filiga's and Ponga's situations are a terrible comparison you may want to read your own drivel about dwarves and giants back to yourself!

You really need to look up the Dunning-Kruger effect. You are a classic, text book example of this phenomena.

But anyway just as I thought you can't provide any evidence to show I've been "proven emphatically wrong" about anything. No biggie I knew you couldn't.

If you're so sure of yourself how about we make this interesting? Why don't you put your money where your mouth is and we can have a little wager? You name the amount and we'll get the moderators to reveal if the IP addresses are identical for Cowboyman and myself.
