We have had guys doing illegal drugs illegal in the game and on the street that didn't get nearly as long as Mullo and never got charged or did time just out of footy for a few weeks ...
Mullo did the wrong thing i agree but his suspension was way too harsh compared to what others have done ....

Asada put the ban on Mullen mate, Mullens ban goes hand in hand with previous punishments handed out to other codes bar the sharks.
Rightly or wrongly its been and done, so this forum should move on.
 
The boys on the left edge are gunna score a hell of alot tries this yr. We have atleast 4 yrs of this and his only going to get better!!!
 
Kid is a superstar. He’s all class. He’s very quick and may have the best footwork in the game, which makes him extremely dangerous whenever he’s got the ball in hand.

The thing that has me drooling but is his ball playing ability. He appears mature beyond his years, particularly in terms of football IQ. Excellent vision and feel for the game. Natural playmaker who makes those around him better. His passing game is that of a top tier half – short ball, long ball, whatever. He also plays very direct and digs into the line. All of that equates to a great ball player.

On top of that, he looks very safe under the high ball, looks strong defensively, plays hard, plays confident and is fearless – both in terms of putting his body on the line and trusting his instincts / playing what’s in front of him.
 
His playmaking is a work in progress still.
In the opposed sessions he had some great efforts. In the Toronto opposed session he was unstoppable, scoring a couple of times and setting up Fitz, Denniss and Ross for line breaks and tries every time the defence had him covered, but in one of the Maitland opposed sessions he mucked most things up, including throwing an intercept pass where Tom Hughes and Brent Nadan combined to run the length of the field and score at the other end.
Yesterday we saw him create a try for Fitz, but later on he made the line break and threw a pretty poor pass to no one.
He is already as good a playmaker as Kurt Gidley was after 15 years, but I think he'll keep improving for the next few years at least, and we might see a few games where we wish he'd just hold the ball and run himself.
 
The balance of probability is that he's going to come up with the right play more often than not and only get better.
Smart enough with the right experience (especially Pearce) around him and in review sessions to learn from poor decisions.

I hope he continues to back himself though, the odd blunder should be well and truly offset by the class he's shown already.
 
The pass that went to ground. The head on shot shows he was aiming for a support player and the pass missed it's mark. I can't remember the last time I watched us and thought we're a chance of scoring every time we get into their 20.
 
Ponga 10 or 20 out attracts so many defenders that it opens up holes everywhere our forwards are going to score a lot of try's running off this kid ...

Thurston was pushing the call for 5 minute sin-bins for players attacking kickers, I wonder whether there'll be a similar call for late hits on passers.

If Ponga starts attracting that sort of attention in traffic he'll to need to be prepared to cop some big hits which is a concerning side-effect

In terms of protection for kickers, I remember Thurston was calling for a 5 minute sin bin for kickers being hit late.

I was suggesting a similar approach for late hits after a player passes might be a thought.
Sure, refs will give penalties for late hits, but a more substantial deterrent for dangerous late hits might be worth looking at as well.

I know they're not playing Tiddlywinks and it's a physical game, but it'd be a shame to see injuries to guys who haven't had a chance to brace and protect themselves before impact.
