It's always funny when Robbo has a cry about assistant coaches getting poached (which they are perfectly entitled to do and the turnover is expected) or losing players but when Uncle Nick pays off the media to create bogus rumours to the Roosters like Herbie, Ponga, Cleary etc no one says a thing...
 
Geez Webster is a sour sack. Must've learnt off Cleary. Called both those calls in warriors favour. Mate C'mon. Clearly deflects from the hand. I seen it in real time let alone the 50 replays they are trying to take it off us and the Greg strip. 50/50 call but he played at the ball after being bumped off. Also Tyson is entitled to be in the position he was. Maybe if your footy side played footy rather the squarking to the ref for 6 agains and penalties you may have gone a way to winning the game.
 
Only thing I'll say is i definitely feel they haven't been calling disruptors as much in the finals unless it's a super obvious/silly one. Tyson's was no where near either.
Marzhews one may have been a rub of the green but you can definitely see the thumb wiggle every time on the replays.

The question i'll put to you guys and girls is would any other hypothetical candidate at the time like Green or whoever have done a better job with the same roster? I think not

Was a little disappointed in Webster’s presser. He made no reference to the winners, it was all about why Warriors didn’t win.
While naval watching is a good place to start after a defeat, it says a lot about a leader’s character when you don’t acknowledge the winners.
His press conference was more about protecting his rear that giving a balanced analysis. Even Craig Fitzgibbon was able to acknowledge the Roosters win on Saturday.
 
Yeh come to think of it he called us their opponent. Reminds me of when Kevvie would mention the blues in origin. First listen I gave him a wrap but after listening again, you can definitely hear the sour grapes

id give Webster a pass. He was clearly devastated in the loss.

Its hard to say all the right things in a press conference when its a close loss like that. Much easier for Fitzgibbon cause the sharks were never in the game after Nicho went off in the first minute
 
Gotta be the best coach in the comp in terms of working with what he's got, and constructing a gameplan around it. I give us a chance next week because we won't just try and out-grind Penrith. So many teams fail doing that, but we will go about it in the way that gives us the best chance, I've got no doubt about it.

We play our own style. We are not trying to copy Penrith or Melbourne or whoever.

Having big strong yardage backs cart it up so the pigs can get a rest then put more energy into D isn't some bold tactical innovation, that's essential to the Penrith game model, but our willingness to flow into shape and fire a shot anywhere on the field, even if we haven't got that much of a platform laid, absolutely is. Our backs are making yardage carries but a much higher % than any other team's are happening down the edges, rather than us just feeding Greg & Dom into the props the entire game.

And the playing style has been proven on a much bigger stage now. The calibration was off at times during the season but in the finals the balance between risk and just using the ball movement to find the metres on offer and put fatigue into the defence while being patient with it has been so much better.

Yep Brisbane beat them last year and should have beat them in 2023 because, no matter what you might say about them and their inconsistency, they play their own style and they back it. Gap them through the middle, offloads, create as much space as possible to let Walsh et al cook, you don't have to play perfect footy to throw the knockout punches. Keep the foot on the gas defensively with your scramble, you're not going to win a set for set battle with Penrith anyway. Back your strike weapons because that's where you have an advantage.

Us and the Phins play a style which gives us a puncher's chance vs Penrith. The Warriors were going to lose next week if they somehow limped over the line against us.

Looks like he has analysed the strengths and weaknesses of the team as a whole and individuals.
Tailored the overall gameplan to suit us. But also has worked with individuals to get the most out of their game.

Croker said he did alot of work with Holbrook and the coaching guys in pre season to get his game awareness up to a level where he can help make attacking decisions.

There was also a comment post game. Basically said they focus on different things each week depending upon their opposition. Seems they really hone in on the opposition and think of a way to beat them, instead of just playing the same way.

It looked to me like we needed to just go out and remind ourselves how to score points at the start of this season. Get that belief that we can score 3-4 tries very quickly. If you know you can score points, you’re never out of the game. You can hang on.

Underrated the effect scoring points has on the energy levels as well. This team obviously has belief they can score on every set.
