Junior finals day 13/4/2024 and 20/4/2024

22 - 0 - only 12 minutes to go.

Bulldogs are not that good a side. It's basically just 13 giant girls running hard and knocking on every 3rd or 4th run, and then smashing little girls in defence.

If they aren't that good a side then what does that make the rest of the comp? They've lapped everyone. If the Knights can hold out any more points this will be tied for their closest game of the season and they've never looked like a chance of conceding a point let alone losing. Both sides handling has been abysmal but they've done more than enough to win and their line speed has been great all game.

Junior comps are about developing first graders and they'd be confident they have more than a few in this group if they don't all sign with the Warriors.

They are just big and strong.
When the other girls catch up their poor skills will catch up with them too.

A few years ago Illawarra won a Tarsha Gale comp because Maddison Weatherall and a few others just bulldozed over everyone. She is an average prop for short minutes now.

The two closest games the Bulldogs had all year were this 18 point win and their 22 point win against the Knights in round 2.
The girls kept defending all game. I'm sure the teams that got beat by 80 and 90 scorelines gave up tackling those big girls pretty early.

Knights 6 - 0 Bulldogs after 12
Jones scored after Knights were camped in their half for most of the game.
  • Evie Jones 11'

Being big and strong matters. Easier to teach a big player how to do basics than it is to teach a small player how to be physically dominant.

As mentioned, their dominance wasn't just from their size - they never allowed the Knights a chance to build any momentum in attack. Line speed was stifling the whole game. That's already a sign of good attitude and coaching.

Strange how the Bulldogs u/17's side is bigger than their u/19's.

Knights the better team so far but Bulldogs are fighting their way back in.

Would’ve liked a bigger buffer after what was a strong half. Thought #13 Darcy was very good after looking like she’d busted her shoulder/pec for all money in the opening minutes.

We keep trying to score down the right with McKewn and Mcnamara, but I think the Bulldogs have loaded the defence that side and we are making a lot of easy metres down the left. We should go left in the second half.

The Bulldogs winger is skipping into place for the kickoff.
There's no skipping in Rugby League.

McEwen creates something from nothing again and I don't even know if she's been our best second-rower, Finau has been great as well
