Jesse Southwell gone!

2 year deal is probably smart.

Everything else aside, think it’s obvious some players don’t feel like they’re learning much here. Jesse only mentioned it 400 times in 2 minutes

I expect Tamika to play very close attention to her education, both on and off the field.

Hopefully Jeffries has made a positive impression on the pathways system because his impact on the NRLW squad has been an unmitigated disaster, even considering they've still made the finals both years. I'd say he needs to be moved on but realistically there's not much left for him to destroy at this point. I reckon the club employing the boyfriend of our best young prospect probably took notice when she was dropped and moved around late in the season, though.

Yes this is absolutely a concern. I’m pretty sure Gus was trying to get her before she re-signed here. They can’t afford to lose her

Billy Bulldogs base there recruitment on power, and physically dominate the young opposition. That physical dominance didn’t even translate into HN Cup this year as the Dogs team got walloped constantly by better skilled teams like Knights and Sharks.

Losing CJ made way less sense than any of the others. I don’t get it how people in charge thought we didn’t need her. Considering we haven’t improved our middles since in any capacity. What we do from here will be interesting. E ie is the obvious choice, smart player, though she spent most of the year unable to recover from hamstring injury. Grace Giampino and Sienna Yeo were very good purchases.

I hope we go for Teagan Berry as we need the speed at FB. Move Bo to centres and pick up another impactful and mobile prop.
Totally agree with you on the Bulldogs’ recruitment approach. They’ve focused so much on size and power that they’ve missed out on players who can actually control tempo and create plays. The lack of skill balance really showed this year — especially against teams like the Knights and Sharks who move the ball so much better.

Losing CJ still feels like a huge mistake. She brought a mix of grit and smart play that our middles have been crying out for all season. E ie would be a solid pick if she’s fully fit, but yeah, the depth there is thin.

I’m with you on Teagan Berry — her speed and instinct at FB could transform the backline. Bo in centres makes sense too, she’s strong defensively and could still offer attacking punch out wide. Hoping the recruitment team actually prioritizes mobility and skill this time around.

Only actually watched it today, honestly a baffling interview. “I want to win a premiership” wow yes I hope you achieve that long-held unfulfilled dream. Been a real tough career so far, filled with hardship.

The “seeing how the city reacted to both teams winning” comment is hilarious too. They have literally never given a **** about whether the girls win or do a mass onfield suicide up there, if they didn’t get to tack it on to the men’s one the attendance at the women’s victory parade would be zero people. There was barely any more attendance at the NRLW grand final this year, in a game where the Broncos were in the men’s game too, than there was for the 2023 grand final, where neither side was in the NRL one.

And the idea of Scott Prince as an elite coach is laughable, he has a team that is 20+ points better than the next best on paper and was still very lucky to win this year. Before that he likely still had the best team and they kept blowing it, always prepared terribly for both the start of the seasons and finals games. They are not well coached, they play like it’s weekend social touch footy, the roster is just overpowering. All she’ll learn up there is getting overcalled by Tamika and making more errors.

She doesn’t want to win a premiership, she wants to win easily. There’s a difference.

The NRLW is a joke, it has lost all integrity IMO.....let's just stack 2 teams with the best players.

And Jesse you can **** off...... You want to win a premiership.....hahahahahahahaha is all I can say.

I don’t know if the comment about the city is a thinly veiled insult at Knights fans or if she’s too stupid to realise what she was saying to be honest.

If it’s the former she can honestly get ****ed and not in a good way.

Brisbane losing 4 pretty standout players will hurt them so I’m not going to bash it by saying they horde the talent, we’ll see who they sign in between all this I guess.

But Jesse’s comments have really blown me away, zero respect what she achieved with her fellow teammates and a local town she apprently loved. To leave 3 years into a contract after her home town club sort her out, signed her at 16/17. Why not challenge get yourself to be the best 7 and beat the two overpowered teams in the comp with a team full of local juniors.
She’s wasn’t even that good this year, her early form solid but clearly dropped of as it went. Kellerher was way in-front.

I’m disappointed in Newcastle not getting it right but they better get it right with Evie Jones and continue the strong local pathways. I keep hearing poor stories about Jefferies culture, but at same time we have Yas and Olivia, two of the more respected players in the game who should be building the culture more-so. Be an interesting off season, we’ve already released Ollerton which I’m not happy with as a back up 9, Lambhert is a great young 9 but only about 17/18 I think.

I feel like I’m going to find myself cheering for a Roosters premiership next year just to spite Brisbane.

I’m with BTP, I think a lack of respect and appreciation for our club has really rubbed me the wrong way with Upton and Southwell.

Don’t remember Millie or Caitlin offering these comments.

I get it, you need to appease the new club and fans and say what they want to hear. But it ain’t hard to show some class.

She’s a traitor to her team and city simple, zero class and showed her true colours.

She also showed a very big lack of brain cells by leaving making the comp extremely lopsided and putting the future of it in doubt with many fans.
