Jesse Southwell gone!

Billy Bulldogs base there recruitment on power, and physically dominate the young opposition. That physical dominance didn’t even translate into HN Cup this year as the Dogs team got walloped constantly by better skilled teams like Knights and Sharks.

Losing CJ made way less sense than any of the others. I don’t get it how people in charge thought we didn’t need her. Considering we haven’t improved our middles since in any capacity. What we do from here will be interesting. E ie is the obvious choice, smart player, though she spent most of the year unable to recover from hamstring injury. Grace Giampino and Sienna Yeo were very good purchases.

I hope we go for Teagan Berry as we need the speed at FB. Move Bo to centres and pick up another impactful and mobile prop.

Disagree, if we wait for that to happen the comp will wither and die, and in fact look a lot like it does now, where the super rich clubs are able to just stockpile all the talent they want.

If the goal is to grow the game, then it does need investment. The NRL boffins should be able to calculate potential growth, what that would mean for a TV deal, and then budget according to that (not really convinced much stuff like that happens at the NRL, though).

Sometimes you do have to invest in order to grow something. The NRL is notoriously bad at doing this. But worth asking if when rugby league kicked off back in 1908 for the men, was there money there to fund it, or did some people take a punt that gate receipts would fund what they were trying to do? That's why the game was changed from rugby, to make it more appealing to crowds and get people buying tickets. The women deserve the same faith, imo.

1000 percent disagree mate, your only worth what your ROI is.

I wonder how much money the NRLW has been costing them every year and long term whether it will ever create a profit.

Whether it's similar to the WNBA and has been losing money for decades or whether they can operate on a tight TV deal budget with the odd players getting endorsement deals...

Good to see you posting.

I watched the round 6 game of HVN where the Bulldogs smashed the then top of the table Steelers 26 - 0.

I watched the game to see if we could beat the Steelers this year, and came away worried about the Bulldogs.

Holli Wheeler played for the Bulldogs in 13, and on paper, you would think she might have made the difference by doing a lot of work.
She did make the difference, but not by doing a lot of work. She basically pointed all those big, athletic freaks they have around the park and had them dominate a team that I thought was the premiership favourites at that time.

Sure, they have a lot to learn still, but they have about 10 Fane Finau's who will come through soon.

That was the strongest performance I've seen in HVN this year, and all it needed was one old hand to take charge and point them in the right direction.

The Cowboys NRLW team beat the Bulldogs NRLW team 22-6 this year. And then substantially the same Cowboys team lost 50-4 to Brisbane four weeks later. The gap is MASSIVE. It's a chasm.

The Bulldogs are going to bridge this gap because their players who aren't good enough to consistently crack the NRLW team comfortably beat the team of girls who aren't good enough for Dragons NRLW? Really?

I'm looking at that team list and it doesn't actually look like a team of teenage girls who are on the verge of a massive leap to me. Starting props were 22 and 26. Backline players in their mid 20's...

I don't know mate, I really don't see it. As far as I can tell they haven't actually kept a lot of their gun Tarsha/Lisa F girls anyway... it's the Dragons & Tigers putting out the youngest rosters, full of the best of the best players from U19's Origin and all that. And they suck too.

Wahs on the other hand did genuinely improve a lot over the season, have a great coach, and are apparently adding elite talent next year - would not shock me if they finish 3rd and give it a reasonable shake vs those top two teams. They could lose to them by as few as 12 points instead of 30-50.

If we did go after and get Berry I think Bo would just be out of the team entirely.
I think Bo could offer plenty in attacking D. She showed great ability to attack on an edge with some room. Defensively maybe still and issue. Means you’d push Wilkerson to the Wing and not have to rely on White or Staines. Staines though lacks strength she gains it in evasiveness though.

Just having a break bud. End of year got a bit sick and tired of the badgering from media and some stuff here.

All love though. Loving the trials of the boys 15’s to 18’s so far.
