In reserve grade last year King was starting prop in all the games he played, averaged 55 minutes a game and averaged 110 metres.
In firstgrade he was bench prop in every game, averaged about 30 minutes, and averaged 42 metres per game.
In both grades he made about 25 tackles a game at about 90% tackle efficiency.
In short, he had completely different roles. His role in firstgrade was to play short minutes and do a lot of tackles per minute on the field - but not many hitups.
He played the role they told him to play.
In reserve grade he was the main starting prop who played long minutes and ran big metres.
I'm not saying King can be starting prop, play 55 minutes and run 110 metres in firstgrade, but since we are asking him to do short minutes and tackle a lot, it's a bit harsh to mark him only on metres.
