With his aggressive style Gavet could be starting with Klemmer you never know those 2 to soften them up and then The Twins coming on to smash through them .
If we get Klemmer it will be so interesting to see who's in the team and who's starting and this is the forwards were talking about isn't that awesome .

Will reserve judgement on new buy, Gavet, we have had supposedly good buys in Lillyman didn't work out well, Heighinton was all effort but not a starter. You want your bench to be potential starters but we are progressing on depth.

Im not saying I think Gavet will start and I would start Klemmer and Daniel . IMO Daniel plays better when he starts and playing with Klemmer would lift Daniels game to a whole new level .
Gavets stats say averaged 100mts for 37 min a game last season , I would take that from a bench prop every day of the week.
Also I would have Glasby and Jacob on the bench with Gavet and Buhrer / Sione but probably Buhrer just because he can play anywhere but prop.

Its great to know we'll have 6 NRL standard props in the que before King gets a run, maybe 7 if Saulo kicks on in the off season.

Knights recruit James Gavet all but confirms David Klemmer will join him at Newcastle
Klemmer has been heavily linked to a move to the Knights and Gavet admits he is excited at the prospect of forming a front row partnership with his old foe.
“Apart from the obvious I think everyone is going to know what to expect from both me and Klem (Klemmer),” Gavet said.
“We are both very aggressive players and we try to intimidate teams and it was good because he always brought his best whenever I did when we played each other.
“Apart from all of that, what we want to do is try and lead our position group.
“That will be our job to make sure that there is no weaknesses and if there are that we are improving those areas.”
The Knights’ pack came along in leaps and bounds last season with Lachlan Fitzgibbon and Jacob and Daniel Saifiti helping take the club from three consecutive wooden spoons to a respectable 11th place finish in 2018.
Gavet is excited to do his part and take the team and particularly the pack to greater heights next season.
“There is a really young squad here but there is no shortage of talent and attitude,” Gavet said.
“So if we could just steer a few of these young blokes and guide them in the right direction and show them a few tricks here and there then opposition teams will have to watch out for us next year.”
Nathan Brown has made no secret of his desire to bring experienced heads in to show the young Knights’ forwards the way.
A pack of Tim Glasby, Klemmer, the Saifiti brothers and Gavet would no doubt strike fear into opposition defences.
Gavet is excited at the prospect of joining forces with his Knights’ teammates, that could possibly feature Klemmer before long.
“You’ve got everything you need in that group,” Gavet said.
“Tim is a really smart footballer and his style of footy is the typical Melbourne style.
“We had Ryan Hoffman at the Warriors for a while and he was exactly the same for guys like me.
“He wasn’t crash and dash, but he was great at cleaning up a lot of the things that footy fans tend to miss, but among the team they are the unsung heroes.
“I think Tim will do a lot of that for us and he will be the smarts of the middle, where as me and Klemmer will be the up and in your face kind of guys.
“Then you have the Saifiti boys who have made their mark in first grade and who are also very physical players.
“If we can show them the way and they can follow, that is a scary pack and I wouldn’t want to play against them that’s for sure.”
A pack that for long suffering Knights fans will hopefully take the club to a long-awaited finals berth.
Newcastle have not made the top eight since making the preliminary final in 2013, but Gavet has much bigger goals in mind.
“We are here to win it and if you’re not here to win it you might as well pack up and go home,” Gavet said.

Gavet may very well have been guaranteed a bench spot ( his to lose ) type thing . He is definatly better than King who I was hoping would be our enforcer but he didn't step up last season like I thought he might .
I also think Jake will start in reserves that was a bad broken shoulder he had and a few games in reserves would be the go I think .
I don't mind if Gavet wants to be a pack leader if he is playing well enough and leading well then good on him, I don't mind if he plays well enough to grab a starting spot .
That's what we want competition for spots , Klemmer , Daniel , Ese,ese , Gavet , Glasby , that's 5 pretty good Props fighting over 2 starting spots although I would still have Ese,ese at lock and Barnett on the bench with Glasby and Gavet and ?.

Hopefully his a loose cannon like Barnett but has the tools to back it up unlike Barny.
I'd be surprised if Gavet misses out for either of those two. If he does, then the other player will have trained well and earned their spot. In saying that, and as much as I give credit to Brown for compiling a great team, he makes and persists with some questionable selections on game day (e.g. Wardle, King persistently making the team, Yates persistently missing out, and so on). So I wouldn't be completely surprised if Gavet makes way for JSaf or King.
