Harvey Norman NSW Cup 2025 Season comments

16 - 0 - Ahsam went right up the middle and no one seemed keen to tackle her.

Evie Jones has added some class to the halves - her and Harvey have both lifted.

20 - 4
halftime

Kukutai did 25 minutes and put us on the front foot just about every set - she is way above this level and the best middle we have used at this level.

Evie Jones and Harvey give us 2 great options in the halves and we are dangerous on every 5th play.

Ollerton is cutting them to bits with her runs - we dropped a bit when her and Kukutai went off, but still went well.

20 - 8 - 2 minutes into the second half - they scored after a string of dodgy calls by the ref.

28 - 16

We are top of the table by ourselves for the first time.

We outmuscled the Sharks, who were on the same points and that was only their second loss.

Game wasn't even close really - ref kept them in it with a lot of soft calls.

Not wanting to tempt fate, but it would take a miracle for the Sharks to take the minor premiership from us.

In the last game, 1st placed Knights on 16 points would have to lose to 10th placed Penrith and 2nd placed Sharks on 14 points would not only have to beat 5th placed Steelers on 12 points, but also wipe out a 52 point differential to take the minor premiership, and I actually think Steelers are a very good chance to beat the sharks.

Our game last week was the best performance of the year, despite missing a lot of girls who have shone over the season - Tess Staines and Lucy Spain were the standouts in the first 2 rounds - both missing - Joeli Morris had a very strong game before being called up to firstgrade - Lilly White was our best in 1 game and near best in 2 or 3 others - Giampino and Tinao have been our starting props.
None of those girls played last week, but Ollerton, Harvey, Evie Jones, Kukutai, Buller and Ahsam all had their best games of the season to dominate second placed Sharks.

Finals will be a new ball game, but I feel our squad is deep and many players are getting better and better as the season goes on.

Lost Finau, but getting McEwen, Morris and Spain in makes it the strongest side of the year I think. Spain on the bench instead of Paki is a bit odd, but it will be good to have Spain matchfit for the finals after such a long layoff.

Mercedez is out - might be 18th player for firstgrade, or they might even start her so we have 2 big wingers.

Ava Glassie comes in at Wing.
Ahsam is out - maybe injured.
Lucy Spain is starting at centre
Carrisa Reid goes to second row
Buller goes to lock
Paki comes onto the bench, giving us an impact hooker and 3 big props on the bench.

4 - 0
Ava Glassie gets our first try after 5 minutes - simple wingers try after a long pass from Harvie.

4 - 4

Dodgy try to Penrith

Penrith are competing hard despite getting smashed in tackle after tackle.
I suspect we will get the better of them as the game goes on

4-4 at halftime
That went quick

Tyla Brown has bombed 2 tries and Glassie has bombed 1 - so we should be at least 16.
Penrith don't look like they are giving up - they are really trying hard.

8 - 4
Tyla Brown got a try from a kick - third time over the line and first time she has got it down clean.

12 - 4
try to Simpson off a Tyla Brown pass when Brown looked like she could score herself.

McEwen must be setting a world record for tackle breaks - she did about 6 in one run a while ago.
