Harvey Norman NSW Cup 2025 Season comments

Knights 22 - 6 Souths at halftime
  • Viena Tinao 10'
  • Grace Giampino 14'
  • Lilly-Ann White 25'
  • Lucy Spain 31'
Our smaller players are cutting the big souths forwards to bits, and we look much fitter, so should go on with it in the second half.

30 - 6
Tyla Brown has a great run and stands in the tackle and offloads to Fane Finau who crashes over from 5 out

32 - 10
Souths had to score if the ref gave them enough soft penalties - 10 minutes to go.

38 - 12 fulltime
Absolute mis-match against the previously unbeaten Souths.

  • Viena Tinao 10'
  • Grace Giampino 14'
  • Lilly-Ann White 25'
  • Lucy Spain 31'
  • Carissa Reid 37'
  • Fane Finau 40'
  • Kayla Henderson 63'

Lucy Spain went off injured after scoring her try and didn't return.
Our forwards were way too agile and strong for the big Souths pack.
Our backs didn't see as much of the ball as previous weeks, but still got some good tries.
The ref gave souths plenty of ball because he didn't like how we were monstering them in defence, but the only got past our defence twice.
I think we were better than them from 1 - 17.

Knights and Steelers - last year's grandfinalists - are the only undefeated sides after round 3.

Emily McArthur, who is playing her second or 3rd game of HVN cup this week, is named for the Australian schoolgirls under 18s side. Stella Lewis and Stevie Botham are also named.
I assume Stella Lewis hasn't turned 18 yet, because she'd be straight into HVN and a chance to make firstgrade if she were old enough. She is as exciting a prospect as Evah McEwen IMO.
I think Stella was also in the Schoolgirls side that played PNG last year and I think she was captain.

We lost 12 - 16 to Parra.
Parra looked the stronger side all game.
We had several players out - Spain and Staines are big outs. We don't have many ways to score without them.

Only try for the knights was an intercept and 80 metre run by debut winger Ava Glassie

  • Ava Glassie 3'
  • Leah Ollerton 48'
  • Keighley Simpson 61'
I thought Leah Ollerton had her best game of the year. She came off the bench and the big Mounties forwards let her have a lot of good scoots out of dummy half, including one of her trademark tries under the posts.

Glassie must also play Union. She made some great runs, but just like she was doing in Tarsha Gale, when she got tackled she released the ball several times.

Finau made a great run where she fended off player after player and was stopped about a metre from the line.
