Harold Mathews and SG Ball 2026

Previews of Ball, Mathews, LF and TG against Roosters - all away games, and with Riley Rostron missing the Matts game, I think it's fair to say we are underdogs in all 4 games - but I think we'll get a win or 2 at least.

Tye Ennis replaces Riley Rostron in Mathews. Firman at 6 has aimed up and we get a decent win 20-6

Got the job done anyway but the attack definitely missed Rostron.

Impressed every time I see Faavae-Eli. Looks to be a really good prospect with his combination of strength and footwork.

Chayce Afa’s first game of Matts I think? Didn’t recognise him at first, he’s already filled out a fair bit. Did great to set up the opening try but didn’t have much involvement overall.

The other winger Vincent saved a few tries that looked like sure things.

Winter playing right centre with Bishop at fullback
Bishop looking dangerous at fullback. I don't know if it a match up for today only, but Winter has been outstanding at fullback. I've been told the club does see his future in the centres though. Might be the start of the transition?

Tom Perkins seems to be playing second row.
Mulherin in for Simpson and looks pretty similar to be honest.

Down 0 - 16 at halftime.
Roosters are too fit and strong for us.
Two weeks in a row we've met bigger and stronger sides.
I think we can still do well this year, but lantry will have to work some magic to find a way to beat the top sides.

Roy Simpson is back in Ball.
Mulherin looked great replacing him last week, so they have moved McRae to prop and we now have Simpson and Mulherin in second row.
Works for me.

Riley Rostron is back in Mathews.
Ty Ennis was judged MOTM last week, so we now have 7 Ennis 6 Rostron and Chase Firman left out - which is tough because he has been great too - but I suppose he can only play in the halves.

Toohey flagged Winter as a possible Gagai replacement in his article last week and since then he looks to have moved to right centre permanently after playing fullback prior. Was a late switch on the weekend but now named there again.

Former Knight Austyn Ah Toon-Hotene playing for the Roosters.

Bad injury to a Roosters player in the Laurie Daley Cup game so there'll be a long delay before the Matts game starts. Game has been on hold for 15 minutes and they just set up a tent on the field around the player. Only 56 minutes has been played so far.

Just got him into an ambulance after about 45 minutes. Players lining up to resume, 4 minutes to go.

Went back to see the incident and was more innocuous than I expected, went up to catch a high ball and landed flat on his back. Immediately reacted and reached for it which is somewhat encouraging because I hadn’t seen him move since, but fingers crossed that was just being overly cautious and the big delay was waiting for the ambulance to arrive.
