Greg Marzhew discussion

I dont think he Can be dropped, his carries are even more crucial now given the players we have missing in the middle. Teams are kicking to him to ensure his not having an effective carry out our own end, this is where ponga needs to be working with him so he can hand off to him to return the ball some of the time, he also needs better kick protection from best, i know its a fine line between blocking and giving away the penalty but he has to do better than what he has been.
The drop balls and loose carries will sort themself out, his gone through stages like this throughout his whole career, he will come good.
To be honest if he can’t hold the ball, his carries aren’t worth anything

Exactly right, lets hit it up but then drop the ball.......no point keeping him in the squad.

Problem is we have no other good wingers, we are really in a crap situation.

Blokes a front rower playing wing yet he’s scared of contact.

Just hold the f***ing thing!

You’d think the coaching staff could study To’e how he handles the high ball, I don’t think he jumps? But studying him, they could implement that into Greg’s game.

I think the rest of the Penrith side not leaving him completely stranded and not constantly allowing the opposition to bomb him on the try line certainly helps.

Regardless though I’d drop him back to cup. He’s a confidence player and his ball security is just going to get worse and worse with the side down on confidence.

Exactly the reason he could never cement a spot in a very ordinary Gold Coast side .
His 2023 and 2024 seasons for us were both good. Only had a few shockers a season amongst mostly strong games. This year has been nothing but shockers though. I still think we gotten the better of the Randall trade.

For the most part

If the team as a whole was going good and he was the odd one out, then I'd be saying back to cup for a couple weeks. He's been bad, no doubt. But no one is playing that well. If the teams going good then what he offers is worth the mistakes. It's also made harder when the opposition is rolling our forwards and then getting a pressure free kick away to his wing. Right now the focus shouldn't be on any one player but the team itself getting things right. Drop Greg now and watch us play every game unable to make it to the 40 metre line

If we are going to struggle to make it to the 40 metre line, we won't notice the difference . To be fair we would miss his meters . When he holds the ball!

Not saying drop him but maybe give him a game rest, let him get his head sorted and work on his deficiencies, ball handling, especially if Schiller is back

I don't think anybody could say Greg is scared of contact. The bloke is a beast for us most carries, often dominating in the ruck, finding his front and earning us a penalty.

I'm betting his handling issues are more a confidence thing. His confidence is down, he doubts himself, and therefore is all in his head when plays are on, vs just doing it instinctively.

Greg needs a sports psychologist and a week off.

I think also, some of his drops with his carries are him trying too hard because we are playing so bad. He is striving for every meter he can get and drops the ball. That can be easily fixed

And the other team deliberately pole axing him every run. Particularly set runs

Marzhew, the new coach, need to sort out his deficiencies in the air. It’s laughable how easy it is for opposition to target him.

Come up with a game plan to protect him.
Tell him he needs to work on it all off-season or replace him.

I’m for Gags to go to the wing, QLD representative wing. Put Sharpe in the centres.
