Gould vs Stuart

GUS!

I read this article the other day and was gobsmacked. He pretty much slammed Ricky Stuart... and now its on!

So Cronulla are trying to dump their halfback Brett Kimmorley. We should not be surprised. Sharks coach Ricky Stuart has put the pen through a few halfbacks in his time.

Stuart was a great halfback in the late '80s and early '90s. During his short but distinguished coaching career he's become a harsh judge of those who wear the No.7 jersey.

His favourite saying is: "The halfback owns the result."

I've never really understood what that means but I guess it explains why Kimmorley is wearing the heat for his team's inability to score tries.

When Stuart left the Bulldogs to coach the Roosters he was asked if he could coax a young Johnathan Thurston to switch with him. Stuart abruptly rejected the proposal. Three years later, when it was rumoured Thurston might be leaving the Bulldogs, Stuart was again asked to consider the promising playmaker. "No," he repeated.

Find out who else Stuart has used in his time.

Stuarts reply:

AUSTRALIAN coach Ricky Stuart last night slammed Phil Gould as "weak" for trying to destabilise Australia's Centenary Test against New Zealand to settle a personal agenda.

Stuart said he was disappointed that Gould, a former mentor, was prepared to risk destabilising Australia ahead of one of the landmark games in the history of Test football all to step up his personal campaign against him.

In the latest escalation of their personal war, Stuart fired back at a controversial article written by Gould in his Sunday newspaper column, describing him as a "weak individual" who uses his huge media profile to settle perceived slights and run personal agendas against more successful coaches.

Personally... stats do tell and Im with Gus on this one.

Yeah, he's right about Stuart, he goes through halfbacks at quite a rate. It might be personal, who knows, but Gould doesn't bash Stuart about everything. I have heard him say a few times this year how Cronulla are really well coached.

But look at the list of players Stuart ditched from the Roosters, instead of picking one and sticking with him. Now it looks like he is doing the same for Cronulla, when I reckon Kimmorley is doing a fine job.

I don't know, but they don't like each other! When Stuart first took over at the Roosters, Gould was still the coaching development guy or something, so they even used to work together.

Listen to this in the DT:

While none of Gould's allegations carried a shred of supporting evidence, left untendered they could prove debilitating in a week when the coach and his chief playmaker need to be especially cohesive.

Um, the whole article by Gould was full of supporting evidence! And it's about Stuart and Kimmorley, how could it possibly destabilise Australia for the Centenary Test?

Bloody DT, I think they hate Gould even more than Brian Smith haha.

Well they do have their haters and I reckon its because its Sydney Morning Herald vs Daily Telegraph thats its been blown up.

I don't mind Stuart, although his sides are too defence orientated for my liking.

But he definitely needs to stick with a halfback. He's almost as bad as Jason Taylor at Souths!

As much as i rate Stuart as a great coach, i agree with Gus on this. BUT what has this got to do with the Centenary Test?
