Fox Sports rugby league expert Laurie Daley says State of Origin captain Kurt Gidley is a "victim of how New South Wales have been going", in response to a foxsports.com.au poll where just 9.6 per cent of users picked him as their Blues fullback.

Personally, (and im not being biased) Gidley needs to be the NSW fullback. Hayne is over rated and does not deserve a sky blue jumper imo. Dugan, im on the fence, id have him in the side but not at the expense of Gidleys position or even spot on the team.

Regardless of whether he plays starting full back or the normal utility role attached to him in origin, he needs to be our ( blues') leader. Its a good feeling to know that the last 3 nsw origin captains have been from the Knights. Out of all players on the park in last years series, Kurt is the leader.

Lets hope this year NSW get the team right, because another QLD win is just embarrasing.

Is that from just seeing him in 1 game so far in 2011? or basing this on last years performance?

I admit, he is a great player, dont get me wrong, but for NSW atm??? Im not sure.
 
The media determines the team..and by the looks of it Gids aint getting captain with the way things are going unless he has one hell of a season.
 
It has to be Dugan unless his form changes dramatically, he's definitely the 2nd best fullback in the NRL.
 
Dugan. Off last years form and his form in the All stars match. If he can continue that, he should be fullback. Gids off the bench as a utility for me.
 
The only starting spot(s) I can really see Gidley getting for the Blues will be at either Hooker or Halfback, I don't mind him off the bench though.

He IMO has it all over Pearce except the kicking game. It would be logical to start him at 9 considering how well Farah and Ennis have done with their oppurtunity's. If he comes off the bench, I'd like to see Young start at hooker, really underrated and can lay a good platform to open a match, then have Gidley come on and then bam, bam, bam like last year.
 
Dudan will get the NSW fullback spot and I think Dean Young deserves the hooker spot , I think Gidley will be 5/8 I actually hope he play's there for the Knights , Barrett is gone and I think that Gidley will keep the C
 
There's a reason Priddis played hooker above Young at the Dragons. He is a solid hooker, similar to Hilder, but you'd only play him there to give the starting hooker a break, or if you were out of all options.
 
Put Gidley hooker. Neither Ennis or Farah got the job done when being called upon and NSW have two great fullbacks in Hayne and Dugan. Keep in mind that Gidley also comes off the bench and plays the majority of his minutes at hooker for Australia. Personally I think Gidley in the number 9 jumper is the way to go for NSW.

Dugan should easily get nsw fullback.

It will be:
1. Dugan
6. Carney
7. Pearce
9. probably Ennis unfortunately
14. Gidley
 
Yeah, I think knights22 has got it right. Only thing that could throw a spanner in the works is now that ricky stewart is making the calls, does anyone know who he rates?
