State of Origin is going to rob us of a possible 6 players from our starting line up. The Captain needs to stay!
 
I think the hunger is still there for him to win at least one series. However if NSW loses this one, I agree. I think he needs to put the club first. In fact, the same goes for Budeus.

Guys like Ben Hornby, Matt Cooper and Jamie Lyon have done it and no suprise their clubs have won the comp the past two seasons.
 
Any player who is still physically able to play and is selected should do so. It's an honour representing your state/country. Some players would kill to put on a representative jersey. SOO is already turning into a bit of a joke with eligibility.
 
He should play for as long as he damn wants! SOO is massive and means so much to someone like Gidley and Danny. If the fire and ability is there he should play until he's 50
 
Pieguyfly he is falling apart every game he plays for us i think playing at 50 is rather optamistic lol
 
Yippee someone thinks the same as me. Playing for your State? That is BS ask Greg Inglis from Bowraville QLD? The whole concept of SOO is flawed.

I suppose it goes without saying as they train all off season and play 24 games plus finals for one team and I'd say they'd be much tighter as a group too which would make a lot of difference!

I'd say 10/10 supporters would rather a premiership than an origin series too.
 
10/10 for both players and supporters is spot on ~ unless of course one has the misfortune to be a qlder!
 
If having a couple of players out for 3 games is the difference between making the finals or not, then we really shouldn't deserve to be there should we? Melb and Broncos have coped with up to 9 players missing during origin and still manage to make the finals each year.
 
Im not saying Gidley doesnt have the desire and ability. Im saying that the team is going to miss too many players as it is. Boyd, Uate, Snowden, Mullen, Bedsey all looking like a call up. look at the draw during origin. Cowboys, Broncos, Tigers these are the games we have without our origin players 3 top 8 teams the captain should be there to pick up the slack!!!!
